695231 Mossbags, Galway are equally as bad as mayo, as proved today. Well done Sligo, great belief.

I'd say he knows this. The only thing keeping him on GAA forums is the faint hope that Galway will pull off the miracle of all miracles and put a six in a row bid in serious doubt.

Dublin have a great footballing tradition and Mayo dont. If Mayo have a great tradition you should might as well say Louth or Tipp have one too

42 senior provincial titles.
23 under 21
35 minor

3 senior all Irelands
4 under 21
6 minor

Two men on the Millennium team.
Some of the finest clubs in the land, Crossmollina, Ballina, Knockmore and Castlebar.
over twenty all stars at least..(not sure exactly)

Competed in five senior finals since 89 and numerous underage finals too winning u-21 in 06.

Obviously not up with the Kerry, Dublin ( although erly dominance could be disputed), Cork, Galway, Down but to say non traditional is simply horse sh..

It's easy for Meath supporters to dismiss getting the breaks, but these sorts of things do bring teams on because they feed into self-belief. I was at the Mayo-Meath match last year and Mayo didn't get a break all day, apart from Kilcoyne's collarbone! If they got an even share the character of the backs etc in those last 15 minutes wouldn't have been tested - Mayo were the better team and winning up to then (check the match reports). But it was a pivotal game for both teams... had Mayo won they would hardly have troubled Kerry any less than Meath in a s-f where The Kingdom didn't really perform yet won easily. O'Mahony would probably still be in a job because the player's belief in him and in themselves wouldn't have suffered. Meath, even though they didn't push Kerry in that s-f, have still come on a lot this year, because the q-f win kept them on an upward curve. Whatever Meath will lack for the rest of this year's championship (like genuinely classy defenders) it won't be on the mental side. As for the future, Mayo were in a similar position just before '96 and bounced back. Arguments about tradition are a waste of time... Tyrone hadn't much of a tradition of winning till less than a decade ago and they now have as many senior A-I's as Mayo. What makes Kerry so successful is good players and keeping the belief... good players is not enough by itself. What makes Meath competitive is fewer good players, but still keeping that belief (even when they got thumped by the Dubs and Limerick in recent years). What Mayo and Dublin have lacked isn't the players... it's just easier to say that that's where the problem is. Still, if Tyrone could turn it around it shows it can be done with a bit of will and a couple of lucky breaks...

Ah I wouldn't be too hasty in adding Galway to the list. A lot of lads foaming at the mouth here are taking a cheap pop at Galway for whatever reason it is they feel the need to do so, but what they don't seem to be aware of is that Wexford reached an All-Ireland semi Final two years ago and are clearly a decent outfit.
Galway have serious questions to address regarding their approach as they've lost their last four major championship games by a single point but I wouldn't say their frailties would be anywhere near as ingrained the likes of Dublin or Mayo who look to have gone the wrong way altogether. Besides, no one in Galway expected too much from the footballers this year, we will be raising our hopes again in this regard when Kevin Walsh takes over, circa two years time.

I suppose the difference for us lads, is we've had a nice October holiday 6 times with Sam since you last managed it! And of course 3 with Liam.
