I'd have though either Standhill or Easky in Sligo. Or else Lahinch in Clare.

Never heard of Mayo being rated as a top surfing spot????

Would you go away out of that. 11 Blue flag beaches in Mayo. Brilliant surfing around Louisburg, Achill. I actually pass by Lahinch to go surfing in Achill. In reality anywhere on the west coast can be classed as a surfing spot. Keel beach is my favourite.

Enniscrone and Easkey are in Sligo but they are only about a ten minute drive from ballina. Enniscrone is supposed to be pretty good and they have surf schools there in the summer. Lacken in north mayo (bout 20 minutes drive from ballina) is also supposed to be pretty good.

Lahinch in Clare is atop spot
Bundoran also.
Not Mayo. Only thing they are good for is being able to Mis-spell Michael Jacksons name.

Ballina is only 10 minutes from Enniscrone, does that mean it's in Sligo? Possibly one of the stupidest posts on here in a long time (and that's quite an achievement)

And paddy, a Blue Flag doesn't mean anything in terms of surfing, Blue Flags are to do with swimming/bathing. Strandhill in Sligo is one of the fines surfing beaches around, but cannot get a Bliue Flag because the rip tides and currents make it far too dangerous for swimming in.
Rosses Point has a Blue Flag, yet the waves are't good enough for surfing.

I've been surfing on Carrownisky outside Louisbourg before. It can be pretty spectacular out there.

No black and white ballina is in mayo. I said it is only a ten minute drive to Enniscrone, less. My point was that he could stay in Ballina and travel to Enniscrone. Some beaches are so far from nearest town you would nearly have to travel that distance anyways. Did ye not cover local towns in remedial level geography?

Easkey and Bundoran are okay but the man wanted an area where it would be good for novices. Achill Island have medium sized waves all year long, However you can find bigger waves on the island if you wan them. Below is a link to a good website. It gives the best times to go out surfing.

The poster asked about surfing in Mayo. Neither Enniscrone or Easkey are in Mayo, but you still felt the need to try to include them. My point was that, using your logic, I could try to claim Ballina as a Sligo fishing destination.
Obviously you struggled with comprehension, but I guess logic and Mayo fans have never really gone hand in hand

The Surfing SHOP in Louisburgh run courses at all those beaches on this unspoilt peninsular. I can't even remember all of the names but Keel is certainly one of them.
