Tyrone revert to negative style against Down

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

First half was great.

Second half was Heleno Herrera and Catenaccio at its best.

Very effective but if you want enjoyment and excitement watch reruns of England V Algeria.

I suspect if ANY team can maintain a high tempo against Tyrone they will be successful, as the legs have gone but the tactics still work.

Did someone say "puke football?". I quite like that as a description.

Down pretty bad then? Marty Clarke was not good at all, typical management from Down taking Poland off. Scoring two points in 50 minutes is shocking.

Tyrone can turn it on and turn it off at will. Never a doubt in this game, even if Down had have got the goal at the end we would still have won. Very comfortatable, and also like to see the monstermen getting worried about Tyrone's resurgence.Be headin south soon to see yez.

No wonder this board is hemmoraging quality and informed posters when I read some of the cack comments on this thread, I honestly despair at times. Any way, well done the Red hands, you did what you had to do, job done.

You don't half go on do you? Are you trying to compare todays game with the Cork/Kerry game ? I'll tell ya some ejits in here, Cork wiped the floor with Tyrone last year and are capable of doing it again no problem at all, as for Kerry, dont anyone be fooled by he cute hoor posters in here giving it the "Tyrone are still a top team " b/s, they are secretly rubbing there hands in anticipation and hoping to god somehow Tyrone make it to croker to play them and then they ironically can put the final nail in the flash in the pan era of Tyrone. Amen to that, i'd love to see it.

As other posters have pointed out the first half was entertaining, down faded badly in the second half and Tyrone had enough to see things through.
It did happen to be an incredibly warm afternoon for football and that possibly had a bearing on the second half.
As regards the fistx6 part of your argument and its reflection on the quality of ulster football it is quite clear that you do not even follow the exploits of your own county. The first Cork v Kerry game had lmore overuse of the fistpass than any game I have seen in years.

madsher big difference fist fist fist fist fist fist point :-)

First half was very good and both teams deserve credit for the attacking football played. The second half was awful but it's hard to blame Tyrone solely for that. Down still had enough chances to have won the game but didn't take them , Tyrone took theirs and that's what it's all about. Martin Penrose was exellent today I thought.

You don't half go on do you?

1. Did you see the Cork v Kerry first game
2. Are you of the opinion that there was a significant amount of kick passing

Didn't realise I had digressed - that was the only point I made with regard to the posters comment on the amount of fist passing - the rest of your preamble os your own opinion.
