Will / Should the Vuvuzela be allowed at GAA matches if spectators want to blow their horn at GAA games ?

They're just the same as air horns, people would probably like the vuvuzela if it was only blown after the national anthems, scores and a full time.

Is Kevin McStay the best referee in the country. He is absolutely outstanding in his observations. He sees every error by the referee - especially when he gets a look at the replay. Technology is a wonderful thing and if it was around in the time of Our Lord it would be regarded as a miracle. So perhaps your columnist is a saint that is outstanding with hindsight.

Does he know the rules - he made an observation to Ger Canning the week-end before last " he cannot do that Ger he cannot pass the ball to himself". Does that mean that he cannot punch the ball and follow it and get it. Does it mean that if he punches it or kick it and iot is going wide at his own end that he cannot grab it?

What's wrong with them? I think they are rather good. Heaven forbid anyone enjoy themselves at a sports event these days!

What has Kevin McStay got to do with those horns?

I'll be blowing one on Sunday at 4.00PM. I intend only to blow one after everycork score so it should be about 50 blows.

If the G.a.a think they can make money out of them expect them to go into mass production and be on sale everywhere we look.

They drown out the rest of the atmosphere. You can't hear any chanting really. The noise is constant for the ninety minutes meaning you can't hear the roar and change in atmosphere when goals are scored.

I agree with you though, everybody in the stadiums seem to be having a great time so its catch 22.

I hope the GAA don't allow these infernal things inside any GAA ground, the air horns shouldn't be allowed either.

You are there to watch the match, the play, the tactics, analyze etc. For sure, get behind your team and enjoy the day but some of these charcaters are just blowin away & not even watching the game!!

Anyone who is enclined to dress up as a Leprechaun, fancy dress etc or\and want to do a mexican wave shouldn't be aloud with 100 miles of the stadium IMO

To make noise with a vuvuzela you have to purse your lips together and rasp into it which just sprays saliva into the air. It's the same as having people sneez and cough into your face. Absolutely disgusting.

oh please God no! I've almost got to the stage of watching the world cup matches with the sound turned down!
they should be banned. I believe some of the players have complained about them also.

Tongo,

I dont see how blowing into a horn for 90 odd minutes equates to anyone enjoying themselves. Particularly anyone who doesnt have a vusuvula(sp?) It is just a constant noise that doesn't mean anything to either team, its just a drone. If they were blown when a team scored, it might make sense. Now maybe it has some cultural link to soccer in Africa and fine if it has some meaning there then by all means great, enjoy it. But it would make going to GAA games unbearable. The horns they give kids already are bad enough as it is.
