Liam Hayes generally writes articles which leave you scratching your head afterwards wondering what he was on about... eg his piece about Pat Gilroy today which is very hard to understand. BIG SACKS (Tyrone) - Posts: 1681 - 13/06/2010 10:16:30 675375 Link 0 |
Hayes sells papers, we are all here talking about him, and some people might even buy the Tribune to see what rubbish he is on about today. His managerial stint in Carlow was the best one in the last ten years, but he did put pressure back on the players with some of his stuff in the papers. Not the managerial guru he was made out to be. Certainly does sell papers though! getonwithit (Carlow) - Posts: 527 - 13/06/2010 11:07:38 675407 Link 0 |
Liam Hayes but his football pedigree is second to none so he knows what he is talking about. He was one of the top players in the country in the 80's and early 90's and has several All Ireland medals in his pocket. sam57 (Louth) - Posts: 1502 - 13/06/2010 11:20:34 675416 Link 0 |
Liam Hayes is a great read on a Sunday. patrique (Antrim) - Posts: 13709 - 13/06/2010 14:37:45 675534 Link 0 |
Made a comment about Dublin today that was startling. Along the lines of Dublin were useless and today would be their only chance of winning a match this year! derfil1 (Kildare) - Posts: 1612 - 13/06/2010 17:52:02 675703 Link 0 |
Sam, Meath were the top team of that period. He came v close to winning 2/3 more All-Ireland medals and was a key player on the team so please do not be underestimating his efforts. Only Kerry Lads have more and I'm guessing he has at least one more than any Louth man still living.............. PearseBro (Monaghan) - Posts: 459 - 13/06/2010 19:03:23 675796 Link 0 |
Pearse Bro I cannot believe your love-in re Hayes. The man is a division 4 version of Eamon Dunphy. He only occasionally writes for the Tribune (thankGod) and his mutterings are attention seeking and getting more and more outlandish as Gaa followers cotton on to him. He doesn,t act like a serious journalist. I will however grant you he probably knows what sells newspapers. mod (Mayo) - Posts: 859 - 13/06/2010 19:24:04 675828 Link 0 |
Patrique: just because Liam Hayes predicted Tyrone would win the AI in 2008 doesn't make him a good journalist. What about all the other predictions that he has made that he has got grossly wrong, as outlined in other posts? Tongo (UK) - Posts: 1795 - 13/06/2010 20:14:22 675937 Link 0 |
