Down V Tyrone - Predictions

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Following my excursion to the Cavan Fermanagh match I would love to Casement Park for Tyrone v Down.
5 questions
1)Is it all ticket? No - just the stand. £13/€15 into the terrace and they will accept Euro
2)Where is the best place to park? Parking quite difficult around Casement, best bet is to follow the traffic and abandon the car at the first opportunity. Bear in mind a lot of the match traffic will be coming into Belfast from Lisburn direction as will you from Dublin.
3)What is the quickest way from Dublin? Head out of Dublin towards airport and then onto Newry. Head for Lisburn and then straight forward to Belfast.
4)How long should it take? No more than 2 hours provided your leaving Dublin around 1ish.
5) If no to Q1 Do they take euros at the gate?

A more realistic 'Best teams in Ulster 2010' (based on League/Championship performances in 2009 & 2010)

1/ Tyrone (the best team from Ulster until they are beaten by Down, Monaghan, Fermanagh or in the Qualifiers by another Ulster team)
2/ Monaghan
3/ Down
Armagh
5/ Antrim
6/ Derry
7/ Donegal
8/ Fermanagh (could be higher if they beat Monaghan)
9/ Cavan

waynoI- keeping it simple there. i like it!
i think this match is shaping up a lot like tyrone-derry last year. down coming off the back of a good league and tyrone a league that didn't really matter. lot of people fancying down just like derry last year. i'm not predicting as comfortable a victory for tyrone this time but i fancy them to snuff out down's attack in a similar way to derry's last year. mickey harte really out-thought cassidy last year and while mccartan is a smarter man i still think there's no one that can match mickey's tactical nous. tyrone by 5 or 6

being fair to derry i think down have far superior forwards and will cause tyrone alot more problems than derry did last year

Thanks maor uisce. No foreign holidays this year so am going to as many matches as I can. Looking forward to the game. I believe Casement Park is in West Belfast. I'm sure like and big city there are some no go areas. Any more specific advice on car parking.

When you come in the M1 towards Belfast you will see the floodlights of Casement Park on your left. There is a slip road off the motorway signed for Outer Ring (and possibly King's Hall), take this turn off and turn left in the direction of the pitch. As you go up this road there is an entry to an industrial estate on your right (just after a Jet garage and before Asda) where you should be able to park on the side of the road - clamping won't be a problem so long as you dont block any entry or anything foolish. Pitch is less than 5 minutes walk. Of course how easy it is to get a space will depend on what time you're there at. All the best.

Hope it lives up to the standard of the 2008 games. Tyrone v Down are traditionally good games of football and I see Tyrone winning by 2 -3 points.

I see Ricey and Davy Harte are not playing because of injuries. That will be a blow for Tyrone, Ricey is a great workhorse and you can find him all over the pitch, he seems to be able to take up all roles. It makes Tyrone more vunerable I reckon....who is going to take his place?

Gormley wont weaken the team, ricey will be a miss though...
Davy Harte hasnt been playing well lately so Peter harte deserves the chance and adds pace to the back line and davy harte lacks pace...

Sexton out and Rodgers not being fit may adversely affect Down. By the same token McMenamin and Davy Harte being out will reduce Tyrone's overall quality. With O'Neill playin his usual top of the left we will probably see Brendan McArdle on him and at the other end Swift to take Coulter. I think the bottem line is that if both teams have a good game then Tyrone will win by 4 or 5.
