Down V Tyrone - Predictions

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Biggest game in the All Ireland Senior Football Championship this year to date.

Last time these two met was in a replay and arguably produced the most scintillating game of the All Ireland that year - Down ended up the victors, though Tyrone went on to become All Ireland champions for the third time.

Should be an absolute belter of a game in Casement Park Belfast.

Predictions anyone?

To be fair Kerry v Cork is the biggest game these days.

Still looking forward to Down Tyrone though. I'd like to see Down do well but their full-back line is as bad as ours...

Hardly the biggest game of the year now, maybe for Down it is because it will be their last in the championship, we have bigger fish to fry

Usually a good day out though

Justy Mc to roast Coulter and Tyrone by 3!

Cork and Kerry is the biggest game to date.

The most scintillating game in the 2008 All Ireland was Kerry vs Galway in the QF.

Could possibly be a belter, but judging by the Ulster championship so far I wouldnt be too optimistic

Predictions anyone?

We just feel very privileged to be allowed on the same field as the 'bestest' team in the history of the whole universe.

To answer your question Down Exile, and putting the semantics over which match is bigger aside, i think Tyrone will win by 3 points.

Coming from a blue blood I find this a touch ironic!! Apparently youse are that hard to listen to since the Donegal game that even the Armagh lads are supporting Tyrone next week!

Cork v Kerry biggest game this year to date given that they are both serious contenders for the All-Ireland. Down are probably not there yet and it remains to be seen how far the transitional Tyrone squad can go. I hope we are blessed with what was the game of the season in 2008 but it is unlikley to be as dramatic. Riceys hands will be like Glue this time around and the Tyrone squad will be able to shave the next morning:) Tyrone to win by 4-5.

I fancy Tyrone to burst Downs bubble and beat them by 3 points. Armagh beat Down in the division 2 final and Armagh got hammered last week. Even though Tyrone were relegated, i still think the higher standard of division one football will stand them good stead plus i'm sure Tyrone will be rearing to get at Down and burst their bubble.

By the sounds of it, well listening to the hot air eminating from Tyrone, Wee James may as well take the boys away to the feed the ducks in Hillsborough Lake for the day as Tyrone are going to steamroller Down.

I heard the same rubbish last week with regards to what Armagh were going to do to Monaghan and looked what happened. I'm not saying Tyrone won't win but to listen to the Tyrone bigheads here it was a foregone conclusion.

Jafollon,

Did you see the Down Tyrone replay in 2008?

Down Exile could you not have simply asked for predictions rather than calling this the biggest game in the AI championship to date. Slightly ridiculous. As everyone else has said Kerry vs Cork is and will be until very late into the summer. In terms of this game it's hard to know what way it will go. Downs full back line is horrendous. O'Neill if hungry enough could kick 2-15 in this game such is the state of Down's defence but something tells me Tyrone and Micky Harte might just let this one go. It's too early in the summer for Tyrone to tick. They are a much better side than Down and alot shrewder too (2008). No doubt Down will give it everything, they forget what it is like to win a provincial title. If I'm pushed to give a prediction I'll go for Tyrone by 2. If this was an AI quarter final I'd go for Tyrone by 10-12. However as I've said I'd question Tyrone's desire. Tyrone have bigger things to worry about. The only reason I'm going for Tyrone by two is because I don't rate this Down team at all. Some great forwards but at the back it isn't a case of having a few suspect games, they simply don't have the players. Because of the question marks over Tyrone's desire to win this I wouldn't be overly surprised with a Down win.

Prediction Tyrone by two (or depending on desire 15).
