Kerry still have much the classier footballers , but would be happy to see them into the second round qualifiers and maybe get some opposition for a wee change. Maybe Derry or Armagh / Monaghan away. Now that would be nice. gaelantrim (Antrim) - Posts: 1616 - 02/06/2010 17:31:35 665837 Link 0 |
You have it in one Dellboypolecat. I think the same and this game may actually turn out to be a non-event with Cork winning in a canter. The match of the weekend will be Sligo V Mayo - that game will be really close and could go either way. JamesH (Mayo) - Posts: 465 - 02/06/2010 19:07:44 665941 Link 0 |
I remember in 1990 Cork hammered Kerry. That was the only time it ever happened in my lifetime. However, the other way around, well that is another painful story. Ultimately Sunday's game, to me, means absolutely nothing. A Munster championship victory for Cork is as insiginficant as the McGrath Cup. Only Sam will do. I believe that we have the potential to do it. Without being biased (which I am not) the biggest question mark is over the players mentality in Croke Park. In terms of footballing ability, we are, in my opinion as good as the rest. the best shadowboxer will lose on Sunday. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 02/06/2010 19:08:24 665943 Link 0 |
Jesus there are some wild predictions across the hs forum this week. I think Kerry will win this one, why people are constantly writing the best team of our generation off year after year has me baffled. On their day they are the best team in Ireland and they are the all Ireland champions people seem to forget that. It's like last year didn't happen. Donaghy to run riot i predict, don't think he is injured at all btw. Kerry by 6. 51longago (Mayo) - Posts: 2981 - 02/06/2010 19:12:18 665951 Link 0 |
Can't see Kerry winning this one. Cork to win by 3. If it were in Croker and was an A-I semi or final, well that might be a different matter. Tongo (UK) - Posts: 1795 - 03/06/2010 08:46:18 666217 Link 0 |
Well for a match no one seems to care who wins there seems to be a fair bit of interest in it all the same. I think this has the makings of as good a match as we'll see all summer and I think Kerry will just shade it. I would think Kerry will try and avoid the scenic route this year and reserve their energy as best they can. The penny will drop at some stage that maybe this Kerry team are not bad and eventually they will get due recognition. Just hope weather holds up and the ref lets the game flow. traleeexile (Kerry) - Posts: 732 - 03/06/2010 10:42:22 666291 Link 0 |
Kerry by 2 Sunday and win Munster but Tyrone will win Sam, I have no doubt about that. JGiles (Limerick) - Posts: 88 - 03/06/2010 10:48:57 666302 Link 0 |
Kerry haven't a prayer with all the lads gone from last year. Cork for the double. PROC_Hurler (Cork) - Posts: 203 - 03/06/2010 13:26:03 666528 Link 0 |
Cork beat Kerry by 8 points at the Munster semi-final replay last year; maybe we will get hammered this Sunday and even with the backdoor I wouldn't like it but still all would not be lost. As for excuses, if all injured were out (believe Kieran is fine, Paul too but may not start, Mike unsure-new achilles injury) combined with the lads that are gone from last year, sure, it would be difficult but that would be the reality of it. But is it an excuse, no, a team can only play whats in front of them. If Cork win on the day, they would be the better team and good luck to them. I am sick of hearing about teams using excuses for injuries etc as being there reason for not winning. All teams have such problems, Cork too have had injuries. kerrykerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1779 - 03/06/2010 15:50:09 666778 Link 0 |
Mike McCarthy and Kieran is playing-Paul Galvin is on the subs. Galvin has not trained with the team for a few weeks. Kieran and Mike were both back training last night. Canty to start for Cork, Cadogen on the subs. Will have to see if a different team will start on Sunday. kerrykerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1779 - 04/06/2010 11:41:39 667337 Link 0 |

For the first time in a few years, I look at this kerry sqaud as a whole and think, are we slipping back? nok02 (USA) - Posts: 534 - 05/06/2010 13:19:00 668220 Link 0 |

And people knock Ulster about the hand passing game bejaysus there was some pretty poor football in this match! fortyfive (Tyrone) - Posts: 5929 - 06/06/2010 17:40:57 669014 Link 0 |
Cant believe what i'm hearing from the sunday game pundits. Apparently that was a poor game. If that was a poor game then we're unlikely to get a good game in the whole championship. It had passion, intensity and some great scores taken under pressure. What more do they want? tribesmen (Galway) - Posts: 151 - 06/06/2010 17:44:47 669018 Link 0 |
It was a very poor poor game and kerry where lucky to get a draw . Blanket defence from kerry also and more prrof they play it. Dellboypolecat (Tyrone) - Posts: 15069 - 06/06/2010 17:47:42 669023 Link 0 |
