Disrespect by Tipp and Cork supporters.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

During todays minute of silence in the Tipp v Cork game, you could clearly hear fans shouting. Is one minute silence really that difficult! Disgraceful carry on! On another note the fans started shouting and whistling half way through Amhráin na bhFiann. Munster hurling fans are the worst in the country for cutting the anthem short. In the Donegal v Down game not a word was said during the minute silence and the anthem was respected throughout.

3 or 4 drunk teenagers can easily ruin a minutes silence.
In a crowd of 40,000 you're always going to have some of these.

i think you will find all the noise was coming from the city end which is where the tipp fans were..i was in the blackrock terrace and there was no noise..whats worse is the fact that the minutes silence was for a tipp man

Another sunday evening, Another thread set up to berate & ridicule an entire county or in this case provinces fans due to the actions of a handfull of people.

We got it last week, apparantly the entire population of Meath appearred behind the goals everytime offaly got a free, yet mysteriously dissappeared quick enough for the same people who were giving out to say that there was no Meath support at the game.

This week, the countries best provincial championship in either code is being accused of having the worst fans in the country.

Lets all hope that none of the Kildare supporters sneeze at an inapropriate time during the game next weekend, that would make them by far the worst supporters in the history of the GAA. Well, until the following week anyway....

Ya this was a bit of an issue today! Can't ever recall it being especially bad at any other munster hurling games! There was a big group of drunk english lads near me and I taught they were going to cause havoc but in fairness to them they all managed to keep it shut for that minute anyway and they even gave a good attempt at our anthem! It seemed to be evenly split between cork and Tipp with one nasty remark from a tipp supporter towards donal og

All in all i would say 2 tipp supporters and 2 cork supporters took part

Firstly is there a need to have a minute silence before every championship match? It's par for the course these days.....Can anyone remember who the minute silence was for? Anyway mozsyh one Cork fan and one Tipp fan out of 37,000 fans hardly a disgrace - considering the late throw in etc...we thought it was amusing! As for Amhrán na bhFiann it was sang to the end by all of us in the Blackrock end.....Great day, great atmosphere.........Why so negative?

It was just a couple of drunks at the Blackrock end, unfortunately they were both Cork Supporters. Apart from being worse for wear by drink neither of them looked the brightest bulb in the bunch. The rest of the noise came from people in the vicinity telling them to shut up. I would say 36,500 supporters of both Counties stood in perfect silence a couple of louts gave a few shouts and were hushed up. Why on earth start a thread about them. Talk about the game. talk about the 99.9 % of decent people who had the most good humoured banter before the game and shook hands and wished each other well after it.

A simple solution and one I think should be brought into GAA games. No disrespect intended here but the minutes silence is rarely observed with total silence anymore so why not a minutes applause like they do in other sports? It's a nice tribute to the person who has died be they a former player or administrator. What better way to be honoured by your peers and supporters than with a minutes applause ringing in your ears as you knock on the pearly gates!!

I agree with Trenchman that applause is the better solution. In my experience listening to the TV always sounds different to being at the game and when one idiot starts another is bound to respond.

I think the minutes applause would be a better tribute myself. In the minutes before the throw in there are always people coming in from behind the stands or terraces who dont hear the call for the minutes silence. They can be heard talking and laughing as they make their way in, oblivious to whats happening inside. Its not there fault but it does defeat the purpose.

Floops:

on a separtate note... high octane by cork but wasn't a good game you need two teams for a good game.

there always a few bad apples, as stated minutes applause would be a solution. And to celebrate someone achievements and remember them i think applause is more apt. Silence is for churches.

What happened in yesterdays game was a disgrace, an utter disgrace. Now I dont know who started the shouting but the only way was that each person that attended the games yesterday should be given a ban from ever attending again. Also nobody should be allowed to attend the games unless they know how to sing Amhran nA Bhfian. They should have to sing it to the guy at the turnstile on the way in. Otherwise, no entry and a 10 year ban (give em time to learn it).

Hag, fair enough applause would be grand but the pity is that it has come to this, GAA fans should be capable of staying quiet for 1 minute. The lads that did it should have shut their mouths.

It started in the blackrock terrace when some lad shouted comon cork. It then sparked off in the city end with abuse roared at donal og as well dunno if it was heard on tv or not.

Whats this whistling during the National Anthem??

Never heard any of that & I was at the game.

On another note fair play to Cork its the wake up call Tipp needs. Better side & a Munster Final & title beckons for this bunch of fantastic players.

Some banter in Cork over the weekend with both sets of supporters the real ones who dont carry on like 5 r 6 did during the minutes silence yesterday.

When a great gael from each county had passed you'd think that either would just shut up for 1 minute but as we all say its just a minority.
