We have more of a chance of winning the FIFA World Cup and that is non-existent.

No, I think the worst thing to happen to Mayo was reaching the National League final, they look to have lost all heart.

Erm, yes I have, lots of times!

Anyway as the system dictates, Mayo have one last crack at Sam this year, but realistically they dont have a hope.

After yesterday's performance, I guess logic suggests that they will not win. However, they are still in the championship and as long as they are there must be some chance. They were cleaned out at midfield yesterday. Their shooting was really really poor. Not only that but their selection of shots was also really terrible. That said, Mayo did create chances. Andy Moran played quite well and they gave Sligo very few chances in the first half. They have a lot to do and they are certainly down in the pecking order to win Sam but they have a chance

My view of it is that we have an incredible amount of talent in Mayo. We have a very strong and able panel... But there is an attitude problem. Do they want it enough? Why is it that when they go behind, the heads go down? There's never a second wind. Players waiting for someone else to act. Our main problam as it stands is, in my honestt opinion, a mental one.

Mayomark........They got the best possible start with the penalty so they werent behind....The problem is they are not as good as they think they are... O Mahoney came in ther and just because he had All Ireland success with Galway Mayo players seem to think he just has to wave his magic wand and they will be Champions too... Thats the impression they give me...They sit back waiting for things to happen instead of doing what Sligo and Louth did.............Go out and make it happen...

Mayo have a decent panel of footballers, but in the championship when the gloves have to come off and bare knuckles are required, Mayo seem to have another set of gloves on underneath! So they win their fair share of league and challenge games, where intensity and aggression levels are lower, but the boys are just too nice in do-or-die matches. If they draw someone half-decent, particularly away, then they'll have one more outing this summer and that will be that. If they're going to do any more talking this season, let them do it on the pitch... they're in corner now, so they can either turn in or come out fighting!

Excellent post Pericles, and I would agree. Like all the 'bigger' teams already in the Qualifiers - Mayo, Armagh, Derry, Kildare - they can either hide away and drop out of the Qualifiers with a whimper, or they can come out fighting and show that they are top teams capable of challenging for the All-Ireland. Unfortunately, out of the four teams I've named, I would see Mayo as being the most likely to just fade away

Nowhere near an all ireland. The only good thing is that the majority of the panel are young lads and will get better. As they get better and more experienced and we add more young lads to the squad over the coming years we may develop a squad good enough to win one. But not at the moment. Too many weak links. Parsons, t mortimer, varley, s o shea are just not up to inter county standard imo

Mayo have too many posers who are more interested in fancy boots, bleached hair and idolising dead pop stars. Any player representing his county would not display such silly traits but would have his mind focused only on winning !!
