Wel lads. I want to go on a good family holiday this year. i have been to alot off places the past few years where there was few irish and a lot of ''across the water''. I need a place with alot of irish.

Salthill.

Not a lot of point going to the Maldives if you want to hang about with Irish people.

Personally I go abroad to get away from Irish people.

Louisburg, Co. Mayo, and the family will enjoy it and thank you for making a great decision !

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH.

My beloved Louisburgh, still unspoilt despite "Hudson's Pantry" and the Chinese.

O'Duffy's on a Saturday and Wednesday for the session, Bunowen and Mosey on a Sunday, Joe mac whenever you like.

I have been going here that long that I am even in a book about the West of Ireland written by Tamasin day Lewis, sister of Daniel, who has a place up near Killadoon.

In her book "West of Ireland summers" in the chapter entitled "Entertainment" the photo is of Seamus on the box, and me on the drum.

Wonderful, beautiful place, still something new every year even after 20 years.

Bit of advice.

Avoid the last two weeks in August.

Gydnia - Poland
Cheap, friendly, warm, deserted beaches couldnt beat it. Second best place after Donegal.

Avoid Santa Ponsa, Playa D'Ingles, Torremelinos etc and you will be safe enough ie avoid anywhere that has "Rovers Return named pubs serving Sunday Roast and showing Sky matches plus constant re-runs of Only fools and Horses" or anywhere that has "wolfe Tone Music" "bare knuckle boxing tapes" and Taytos

For a family break any of the following:

Lake Garda / Lake Como in Northern Italy
Annecy in France is one of the most beautiful places in the world
Taragona on the Costa Dorado in spain is lovely its a a Roman built village with fishing and is not too touristy whilst you can tour catalonia, visit Barcelona
head to Portaventura theme park, but get out of Salou as it fits the above description
There are also some good resorts on the "spanish algarve" ie the bit of Spanish coastline that is on the Atlantic rather than the Med". They are more geared for Spanish holidaymakers rather than Irish/English whilst still having plenty for the kids to do

Went to Marmaris myself ianog, nice enough but we went pretty early in the season, April to be precise, so the resort wasnt fully ready. Some really good trips to be done, recommend the trip up the Dalyan to the mudbaths, which were closed when we went, so they decided to take us to what was effectively a pond being fed by hot springs!

South of France around Nice is beautiful and there are many family resorts, camping etc. It is not as dear as people think and you can get great deals shopping around. The weather is nearly always a given and Italy/Monaco are within a couple of hours driving or even less by train. As I said lots for the kids to do with swimming, sailing, football, climbing etc. Took in Monaco/PSG game in Monaco last year, now that IS a stadium.
