New Rules (including hand pass and side line kick rule)

Is a complete joke, is anyone even sure of what the correct hand pass procedure is?

In this Derry and Armagh game I have a feeling the rule will be decisive (regarding stopping crucial scores etc)

The game is ruined with stop/start play and sloppy playing.

Its a joke alright, refs are gonna destroy the championship with that sort of nit picking, but having said that, neither team are helping themselves in the rest of the game either.

It's pathetic the association is gone bonkers, there has to be some sort of emergency rule change to bring back the old rule or it could spoil the whole championship.

The ref today has no consistency when he's applying this rule today. Its like he's decided before the game how many frees he's going to give for it and he's working towards that number. One every now and again.

Overall the Referee dose seem to be making it up as he goes along. Anytime he blows his whistle I'm never sure which way the free is going to go until he points in the direction.

This rule is a complete disaster. The ref today appears to be blowing frees for random handpasses which are being executed correctly.

I think I suffer form narcolepsy now! Never seen a worse game of football in my life. Referee was a complete joke, completely inconsistent. He didn't cost us the game though.

TOTAL quagmire of a rule and completely inconsistent; it will lead to poor TV spectacles and a lot of criticisms being heaped on referees. There were handpasses in the Derry/Armagh game that were OK but were called for frees and a few already in the Kerry/Tipp match getting called wrong. Furthermore has Croke Park passed a rule outlawing any physical contact because players are being blown up for even putting a finger on the opposition in both games.

"if it's not broken, don't fix it....... "

That's it i think it is broken handpass is ruining the game, I can't see why the didn't enforce the closed fist pass properly that would have been better...

New rule is a joke, and also isn't referred consistantly i mean it's all or nothing really watching the tipp, kerry game today I'd say 50% of the handpasses where braking the new rule especially the hand passes to players close to them.... no consistancy there at all.

Have to say the Referee was awful flashing out cards like it was christmas for the slightest of tackles, he was equal in his shocking card flashing to both sides.

And his take on the hand passes HAHA pure joke, one plus is that the ref that was in portlaoise today is retiring this year.

Players in 2010 are not as brutal and as in 1950. The game was much tougher in the old days , when a player had to literally Fight for every ball. It's a new breed of modern, sophisticated Irishmen today, so changes are necessary for the good of the game.
