I met a man the other day who told me he bought a new set of Golf clubs, clothing etc on the Internet far cheaper than he could get them in any shop or sale in Ireland. All delivered within 10 days. I have never used this system to purchase anything so i wonder if there are any catches !! The prices he quoted were very good indeed but i wonder how manufacturers can sell so cheaply or is it just cutting out the greedy shopkeeper and if so has it led to many job loses?

Cutting out the middle man and buying direct from the supplier has certainly cut down on the costs, plus most online retailers will deliver free of charge depending on weher you live.

Buy a few things online alright, the likes of DVD's, jerseys, books and that, haven't had any problems so far with anything. You will usually find stuff for close to half the price you would pay in a shop.

Even if you don't want to risk using your credit card you can just set up a Paypal account and use that, very handy for buying on ebay.

Yep about 12 months ago - Took 2 weeks for delivery
Worked fine for about six months and then started to make a funny hissing noise
Rang their call centre and ended up speaking to some lad in Bangalore
He told me that wives don't come with a gaurantee, ended up having to get a new one and the old one is lying out in the shed

Careful with those golf clubs. I remember seeing a show about buying off the internet and phoney golf clubs is big business. They look the same but the testers showed that after about 20 or 30 swings, there was an awful rattle off the club faces. Some were broken in no time
As for DVD's, I never thought someone would take such an abstract view on George Orwells Animal Farm :-)

I have bought camera accessories from China and Hong Kong on occasion and every time I have had to pay duty on the stuff. Still works out cheaper mind you but there's very little in it when all is said and done. The goods themselves have always been top notch.

Always get dvds on the internet. The parents got my birthday present on the internet as far as I know and that looks grand. You just have to trust the site before you pay.

Have bought camping gear golf clubs etc over the net no problems!!! Buying clothes could be a problem (sizes and fit) but a mate of mine used to go into the posh shops try on the clothes he liked get the sizes etc. go straight on the internet and start ordering saves a fortune!!
