, so go back and keep listening 2 your mate myers ,

Would that be Kevin Myers who turned up at Rossville flats in 1969 ready to defend the bogside against the RUC? Having travelled up from Dublin to do so?

I didn't notice Pat Doherty that night, but I might have missed him.

Patrique - in the fantasy world Myers inhabits, I'm sure he thinks he did that.

Benandonner, the significant thing in East Belfast was number of loyalists who switched from Robinson to Long. Heard that PUP/UVF were encouraging this! TUV vote in the heart of loyalism would indicate that their is little or no support for rejectionism among Unionists. LIkewise the strength of SF vote would indicate similar on the nationalist side.

Patrique, I dont read Mr Myers articles as a rule, however I did take it upon myself to read his book "watching the door", or something like that. Talk about feeling cheated, it was actually a decent enough read up until a point, factually it seemed to fairly accurate, until we got to the point where Myers decided to explain to us that he was a) the biggest stud in all of 1970's Belfast & b) by his very presence he could prevent sectarian assassinations from taking place. This was the point where it ended up in the recycling bin, well somebody might as well get some use out of it! So when I hear people speak of Kevin Myers "being here there and everywhere", I would generally take that with a rather large does of sodium chloride. It is apparent to me that the guy is a supreme fantasist, Walter Mitty himself dreamt of being Kevin Myers, and whilst he may well have been in Derry during the battle of the Bogside, I would have serious reservations if he were standing on the top of Rossvile flats lobbing home made napalm on to the B specials. I'm suprised that he hasnt claimed to have been the guy blocking tanks in Tianamen sq with his shopping bags or perhaps he was picnicing on the grassy knoll the day Kennedy was shot, who knows, only Kevin can enlighten us!

He was in derry, aty the battle of the Bogside.

he is also an excellent writer, but suffers from "Spillane" "Dunphy" syndrome, in that he now writes what the paper wants from him, nonsense to incite the masses.

People can change. Look at republican icon Conor Cruise O'Brien if you need another example.

My point about Myers being in derry was simply one that you annot simply judge him by the crap he now writes. You need to look deeper.

And not just with Myers, but everyone.
