Might vote Green, everyone else has had a go and they couldn't be any worse, although I only have 1/100th of a vote anyway.

The Composition of her Majestys Government is hardly a fitting topic for a GAA forum.
Though from an economic viewpoint I would have some concerns about the export impact of the tories less EU friendly standpoint

Just voted for Ian óg in North Antrim. Jim Allister needs to be sent a clear message that his presence is not required, a return to the days of ranting, raving and dictating who you will and wont talk to will not be tolerated by anyone with half a brain.

...would anyone in a nat/unionist marginal be tempted to vote with their pockets and put an X in the DUP/UUP box? ???

Seriously Bren - do you think a Tory government will choose cuts in Belfast or Bristol? They have told the UUP what they wanted to hear and now the DUP seem more useful they are whispering sweet nothings in their ear. Its what the UUs and DUP want to hear but if the Tories get in, forget what was said - Northern Ireland won't even be on their radar other than as the best place to make cuts since there will probably be no Tory seats there anyway. That's nearly as mad as voting for McCrea to keep a bigot out...

Sean Og, I wasn't directly calling yourself a dissident and was just asking about your opinion on why there are no dissident republican or other Independent republican candidates standing in this election which you are still free to answer of course! I am fully aware of the NGA spat and feel that it is a quite misfortunate situation to be honest. I know McGuinness's comments alongside Robinson and the Chief constable didn't go down too well in many republican households including my own family to be honest and perhaps this was a misjudgement on his behalf. But surely dialogue between both parties with the same goals and objectives is the way forward instead of making enemies out of each other.

Like many GAA clubs there are certain personalities that don't always see eye to eye and this can maybe be similar to some aspects of SF or others in the broad republican movement. My own opinion is that the Republican movement would be stronger if united and SF does deserve credit for taking over 90% of the broad republican family with them. Of Course not everyone agree's with their direction and Its is up to an individuals choice at the end of the day if they feel that it has been right or wrong. History will be the judge of it all in 20 years time.

But compared to the Split in the DUP were unionist dissent in the form of the TUV has basically partitioned that party in half Sinn Fein has to be praised for taking the vast swathe of folk along with them in the six counties and hopefully as an enduring SF supporter this will be reflected when the count begins tonight. Slán.

No probs Mugsy, i interpreted your comments wrongly, my mistake.
I dont think 1 incident or speech has changed my opinion of SF Mugsy, just a gradual erosion of trust, and a removal of basic republican principles. The McGuinness spat was a further nail in the coffin for my support. Other gripes/moans etc include Adam's recent degradation speech on the Dark Hughes, the perception that SF is Belfast run, i see lads locally who gave 20 years of their lives in the Kesh not being able to scrape together the price of a pint while others , not necessarily local fill their BM's up as they head for their holiday homes in Donegal/Tenerife. The problem of parades in my hometown of Portadown, the DUP went straight to the Orange Order to explain the changes in the parades commission, the residents of the Garvaghy Rd are still waiting on SF to give them their views.
There are other factors that have led to my disinclination in support for SF, I know the majority of the republican family are still behind SF, but there are growing numbers (who dont support current armed action) who will not toe the party line.

Well that was quite the seismic result in Belfast East was it not, did anyone see it comming, I think not. Everywhere else went to form although the Fermanagh S.Tyrone will be a cliffhanger, could be time for the lawyers a'la the Florida recount!

Well done sinn fein 4 seats hopefully 5 and the SDLP might have got 3 seats but are in deep trouble as there depending on dup, ucu supporters switching to them but this will not work come to assembly elections , so that would leave them in bad state.

I seen it coming brend and said so. Tactical voting and the sleaze factor played big roles in East Belfast and Robinson has had an air of a doomed man for quite a while. Fermanagh/South Tyrone could be heading for the courts as Unionists are challenging many votes. The BBC news said that there is a discrepancy between the total number of votes recorded and the number of ballot papers issued so settle down as we could be here for quite a while UNLESS Gildernew comes out on top again and the electoral officer declares her the winner. She has came out on top twice and Sinn Fein say she should have legally been declared the winner the second time.

Wouldn't like to be one of the counters in Fermanagh South Tyrone. Sinn Fein will have flooded the hall with activists looking for any slip up (and why shouldn't they) I see its going to take some time. Talk back are pulling the pin at 2 o'clock and letting Hugo out of his cage!
