Now in exile sean so I cant, but when I was there I beleive that I voted ONCE in a local election and never again. Expect the turnout to be lower than the norm for this type of election, voter apathy and a generally lacklustre performance by the parties themselves will have contributed to this. I mean, what are the issues at stake these days, its really hard to tell?

As an interesting aside and judging by reports, its likely that the unionist block of MP's will support a conservative govt should the need arise, in return for the North to escape the public sector cuts already proposed. Now this throws up an interesting quandary, as the North is so heavily dependent on funding from westminster and this move would benefit ALL of the people of the north, would anyone in a nat/unionist marginal be tempted to vote with their pockets and put an X in the DUP/UUP box?

I will probably vote but only because of what people went through to earn the right up here. None of the parties really represent my views so I will prob just go for the socialist alternatives or anyone pro-gaeilge/environment.

They are mostly just liars anyway

No Nocky, that would read Irvinestown, Newry, Strabane, Magherafelt, Craigavon, Dungannon, Keady, Limavady! Thats more typical of your average multi-voting shinner!

Yes, I will be casting my vote for a man born in Glasgow in tomorrows election.

Sean Og, why aren't any dissident republicans standing for election this time round in the 6 counties?

Given the expected low turn-out and the difficulty experienced convincing certain supporters of the importance of taking this particular seat, I feel that I am justified in travelling North to vote.
It's our seat and a seat which means a lot to Republicans given that it was held by Anti-H-Block candidates Bobby Sands(R.I.P.) and Owen Carron.
An attempt by Unionists to take the seat by running a single candidate is an attempt to drive the 6 counties back to the days of when there was no civil rights for the nationalist community.
When Unioinism fails to take this seat it will spell its end in that part of Ireland, and with a reward so great I was not going to stand by and do nothing.

Any thoughts on Sinn Fein withdrawing Maskey from South Belfast?

Quite a good move tactically to withdraw Maskey.
Her was never going to be elected. Sinn Fein then approached the SDLP to withdraw Ferghal McKinny fom Fermanagh/South Tyrone.
Now SF knew that SDLP would never do this.
However Maskeys withdrawl followed by McKinnys refusal to withdraw will send voters who were undecided beteen SF and SDLP over to Gildernew.
In summary, Maskeys withdrawl was never about giving the SDLP a clear run at that seat in South Belfast. It was rather a ploy to take voters from the SDLP in Fermanagh/South Tyrone.
It will be a major show of the parts strength in that constituency when Michelle beats a joint Unionist candidate despite the SDLP's presence.
Quite excellent electioneering by Sinn Fein.

Good to see a fellow clubmate of your own out in support of Gildernew in Fermanagh South Tyrone as well his cousin Peter the Great.

Ive no idea mugsy, you would need to ask them. Thats a typical shinner retort, if you dont support us you are a dissident.
Ask the people of east Tyrone why they wont be voting SF at these elections, ask them what they thought of the SF leadership trying to order them about regarding the National Graves Association.

sean og .
i think we need 2 stand together in these elections , i know they are a lot of republicans with genuine fears.
but we need 2 move forward and not be making mistakes of the past , like brother against brother , we have a real chance of success in these elections and a chance of a lasting peace , we move forward and not give the other parties a chance 2 use ammunition against one another.
the leadership of sinn fein have made some brave decisions as of the men before them. we should ride the storm and bide our time , because things will work out 4 us in near future , and 2 morrow is a start . all the best sean.

So when there's one Unionist candidate in Fermanagh/South Tyrone it's taking us back to the bad old pre-civil right days, when Sinn Fein organise the same in South Belfast it's good electioneering. Good to know that. Both cases are disgraceful and effectively organising a sectarian head count. I hope you're right about Fermanagh/South Tyrone but I fear you will be wrong. And Mugsy that's all well and good about my clubmate but what difference is it going to make? He's not even from that constituency himself, Pomeroy is in Mid Ulster

For years Irish people complained that the dirty rotten English wouldn't let them vote. Now they don't bother? Wonderful.

As Slasher said, a lot of people died to win the vote so you should use it.

On that count I will yet again vote for Willie McCrea because he is being opposed by a super bigot from the TUV.. We need to show the TUV that bigots are no longer welcome. At least the Continuity on the other side got that message when no-one actually voted for them.

Willie's main challenger is Reg Empey who is standing for the Conservatives. So I must vote for Willie, who also gets things done when you need him. I know he has been fraternising with Sinn Fein for nearly 30 years but I will not hold that against him.
