well well well looks as if mountnugent just wont go away... by the scoreline seems as though they gave the geals a bit of a touch up. i would appricate a match report. are they anyones favourites for the championship???? down to 4 they surely have a good chance to win it, especially when they are playing (no disrespect) playin templeport, who along with mountnugent are the big underdogs in the comp. well done again to the nugent lads, and well done to templeport.MOUNTNUGENT ABU!!!! milhouse (Cavan) - Posts: 469 - 08/09/2008 10:48:41 94842 Link 0 |

have been to the 4 q-finals.drung and shercock are ahead of the rest.they meet in the semi.i fancy shercock this year.they have some very good players. kenny burns is back from oz and playing great football.i hear all is not well in the shercock camp however so they will need to sort out things quickly.drung have good quality players but dont always produce on thebig day.i predict a shercock-mt nugent final. theexpert (Cavan) - Posts: 18 - 08/09/2008 14:54:41 95266 Link 0 |
Was at M/Nugent Shannon Gaels game Sun morning. wasn't a bad match. even enough affair, but M/Nugent stayed ahead for most of the game. maybe it was level for a little while mid way through 1st half, but M/Nugent got there goals at crucial times in the 2nd half. Shannon Gaels came strong at the end of each half, but couldn't really break through a good looking M/Nugent Defence. Don't think Shannon Gaels really turned up on the day, and got little out of there big players. had some good inside forwards.. M/Nugent look like a team getting stronger every game. there team seems settled now, and has a good looking balance to it. should be a good semi with T/Port. Drung will prob win other semi as Shercock will more than likely fall apart like they do, especially on reading that there is fighting among the camp.. what does anyone else think?? sure (Cavan) - Posts: 43 - 08/09/2008 16:41:14 95401 Link 0 |
Great wins for both m.nugent and and t.port at the weekend... Its great to see one of these teams goin to make the final. Both teams will be happy with the draw I tink and would fancy each other to progress to the final. I wud fancy m.nugent to pull thru wat will be a tough match, m.nugent beat them easily in the league, this will not count for much thou!!Saw m.nugent against shannon gaels in a very entertaining match which was full of football, nevr thought I;'d say this but m.nugent have become a side who want to play good open football and it won out on the day against a s.gaels side who may not of got going, I believe they were nevr let get going thou!!that said m.nugent lived on the edge for the last 5mins in a game which should of been long over, couple of defensive mistakes could of cost dearly... T.port will be dogged and try curtail m.nugent into a tight hard hitting affair, I can see it bein tight but if m.nugent stick to their game plan space will open up in breffni for them!!! Great to see drung playing shercock, wud of been a lot of peoples dream final, however m.nugent r t.port wont object.. This will be a test for drung who looked serious against a poor munchies team, this will show wat both teams are made off... Simone (Cavan) - Posts: 14 - 09/09/2008 10:47:23 95852 Link 0 |
I made the mistake of underestimating TP against Kildallon, They played with great spirit and controlled the game all the way through, Scoreline flattered Kildallon. The defence performed well and yet a lot of players elsewhere never got into the game probably nerves against their old rivals. If they play to what they can Mountnugent should be concerned. After last weekend i admire the nerve and guts of Tp. Hope they do it and wash away the memories of last year totally. Inactive x5 (Cavan) - Posts: 1452 - 10/09/2008 14:56:07 97268 Link 0 |
I was at the T/PORT Kildallan game at the weekend.Well done to T/port very committed team who work very hard, don't play pretty football but get the job done.Kildallan should be very dissapointed. They started off very well and they do have the more talented players but they just cant make it work at the minute. There two star forwards let them down badly.!!!!!!They really should go back to the drawing board and work on playing with six forwards up the field and they did look like they were not as fit as they should have been. The potential is there just need to work harder.Anyway good to see a west cavan team in the business end of the championship best of luck to T/port. westboy (Cavan) - Posts: 33 - 10/09/2008 22:58:14 97637 Link 0 |

Killdallan. I have seen a lot of there games this year and the disrepect shown by certain players one in particular towards his team mates and mangement is the worst i have ever seen and i have been going to football games for the past 20 years. If players think they are above there team mates they should be out performing there team mates and the other teams if not which is the case with this guy he should keep his mouth shut.A total disgrace --young men that think the are legends before they start. westboy (Cavan) - Posts: 33 - 11/09/2008 14:35:28 98082 Link 0 |
Played against Kildallan earlier this year and the same player was mouthing of at management, Dimitri (Cavan) - Posts: 64 - 11/09/2008 15:13:03 98147 Link 0 |
Totally agree, I have seen a few games where I am sure it is the same player was acting like a complete brat. Even on Saturday evening he was shouting abuse about not getting the ball in sooner to his team mate and a score after coming off it what more was he looking for ( NO I in TEAM!!). I also heard some choice words come out of his mouth during the game to his marker whom I have to say came out on top and held his head against this little arrogant man. We all know who he is and Kildallen would be a better team without him... PaJoe (None) - Posts: 56 - 11/09/2008 15:21:18 98152 Link 0 |
He didn't just embarrass himself he let his club down and his manager in particular.I don't agree with the statement that they would be better without him, get his head right and he could be a fantastic player for them but that might be easier said than done. westboy (Cavan) - Posts: 33 - 11/09/2008 19:49:39 98390 Link 0 |

If Templeport are going to beat Mountnugent they'll need to look sharper on the breaks thats why they lost against them in the league. TP have gotten this far and they'll not let this game go without a fight, they've been written off since the start of the year and they keep proving people wrong. They'll scrape it saturday again. The templeport-mt.nugent will go down to the wire I think. M.nugent were much better in the league encounter but t.port will be have improved since then I tink. Templeort bet a kildallan which m.nugent lost narrowly too on an evenin when they didnt perform at all so I think m.nugent should just have that bit too much for t.port. They need to stick to their game plan and not get dragged into a tight defensive hard hitting game which will suit t.port... T.port scorced 1.8 against kildallan and 2players accounted for this total, whereas at least 6 different players scorced for m.nugent the last day. this shows they dont totally rely on givney to score for them! This will prove crucial on the day as t.port rely heavily on McManus to score for them... M.nugent to go on and win by 3r4points in the end.... Shercock or Drung to walk the junior this year Rice_Flowers (Cavan) - Posts: 3 - 16/09/2008 15:23:52 100919 Link 0 |
Rice_Flowers that is a very bold statement saying that mountnugent nd t-port only have 1 or 2 decent if drung and shercock have such great players as you obviously seem to think then why are both playing junior football there at the same standard as every 1 else in the championship!!!!! drung went out on 2 occassions and played 2 teams that never turned up on the day and now they think there world beaters when they get a stern contest from shercock we will see what there made of!!!!!!!! wtfioy (Cavan) - Posts: 90 - 16/09/2008 16:19:45 101000 Link 0 |
