Because Templeport are the highest placed team in Div 3 that can play in the Junior Championship. This must give them a good chance.

Templeport v Cornafean - People keep saying Cornafean will up their game for the championship but a terrible league cant be ignored. Templeport have sorted their dodgy goalkeeping situation according to reports and if they have their young half-forward who came on against Killdallon to take the pressure off MacManus they should win this.

Arva v Corlough - Corlough will want to shed the memories of the league defeat against Arva, Arva wont be easy tho expect a close game with Corlough sneaking out victors.

Butlersbridge v Drung - Id put my money on an upset here with the Bridge to surprise a Drung team not all too used to winning games. Mulvey will not lie down for Galligan if he is fit.

Mountnugent v Shercock - Shercock should have won this championship for the last few years and with a year of Div 2 football should be more than a a match for a determined but outclassed Mountnugent side.

Shannon Gaels v Maghera - Maghera are the poorest team in the county at the minute, Gaels far too strong expect a hammering for Maghera.

Munterconnacht v Kildallan - I think the Munchies will stand up to the task. Kildallen wont go down easy. Match of the fuxtures here guaranteed to be a titanic struggle.

Shercock beat Mountnugent.
As a neutral I dont think anyone would be fearing Shercock. Mountnugent pretty much handed it to them on a plate.

Shercock beat Mountnugent by 2-10 - 0-11. a good game which saw Shercock take there chances. 2nd goal mid way through 2nd half sealed it for Shercock, but Mountnugent Never gave up. Excellent display from Mountnugent's No 9.. Shercock have some good players also, No 11, 9, 15, 12 played well. a good game in all, apart from the incident when Shercock took off there No 7, and he spat at a Mountnugent mentor as he walked off. This kind of thing needs to be cut out of Football, that to me is way worse that what Paul Galvin did, and he's getting 6 months..

Shercock done enough to win, they got the goals when they needed them, Mountnugent missed two good chances and a few frees and were always chasing the game. Shercock are alright but there's better in the Junior Champ, they have a bit of a discipline problem - spitting, head-butts and off-the ball tripping and hitting. Were lucky not to have a lad sent off before half time. Mountnugent kept playing and trying to get back into it right up to the final whistle. They got involved with a bit of messing too. Good enough game overall. One of the better refs I've seen this year at this level.

Was also at the Shercock Mountnugent match as a neutral. A very good competitive match with alot of good scores. Dont know what 'Crash Bang Wallop' expects from a junior chamionship match. After last night I would go so far as to say that whoever beats Shercock this year will win the Junior Championship. Would not be surprised if Mountnugent comes through the back door and cause a few upsets. Shercock looked like a team that have alot of football in reserve. A few of their main players still not firing on all cylinders. Look dangerous in attack and probably had to play against the best player in the Junior Championship last night (No 9 for Mountnugent).

yea very entertaining game between mountnugent and shercock could have gone either way just the second half goal sealed it for shercock. also it was a disgrace 2 cavan and shercock football that one of shercock players spat at a mountnugent mentor as he was been taken off disgraceful act i hope shercock take some action with the player in question. and the mountnugent number 9 was serious was talking 2 a mountnugent man after the match hes david gibney he was on the county u-21's this year great young talent he is only gone 19 i heard.

All this talk about Shercock being a disgrace... This that and the other. Shercock were giving as good as they got, Mountnugent weren't half fond of kneeing players in the head while they were on the ground, pulling, dragging and so on. The WORST incident during the game was just before half time when Mountnugents no - tried to rip the privates off a Shercock player that was running rings around Mountnugent. That is what caused the ruck near the stand and shortly afterwards... Just to clear that up for you. If anyone should get a "disciplinary action" it should be him, because not only is it unsporting but it is downright dangerous. As for our number -, I was standing beside him when he allegedly spat "at" a Mountnugent mentor, nonsense. He spat ON THE GROUND when the mentor with the funky looking bomber jacket walked past. Just a bitter mentor trying to make a fuss over nothing...

as a mountnugent player playing in the game after the match then why did the shercock manager come in to the dressing room apoligising for the spitting incident or is the shercock manager wrong to!! he also said the player in question will be delt with accordingly. and the mountnugent mentor jacket isnt funky its retro!!!!

Thats fair enough. If he did spit at him then he should definately should be disciplined and knowing our management they will do so. I stand by what I said though.

as a mountnugent man naturally i was disappointed to hear the result but according to 1 of the players the lads can take alot of positives away from the game... shercock are a good jfc side who take alot of beating and have done so for the past 6/7 years. i was playing for mtnugent when we beat them in the jfc sf a few years ago, and to be fair one guy spitting is not the way them lads conduct themselves in general, sure they are like the rest of us, prepared to bend the rules a little to win... spitting is a shockin act, but it was only one fella that did it... on another note i hear darragh carroll scored 3-5 for the munchies, it must have a deadly midfielder who put the ball on his chest 8 times:-) ah seriously, before ya bite my head off "munchie lad" that is great scoring, was much from dead balls as a matter of intrest??

Who is the Shercock Manager? Surely he is not that stupid to go into the oposition dressing room and admit that sort of act!! All management teams must stand by their players in public at all times and deal with them face to face in private. This is an amateur sport after all. I must say I would be embarrassed if I was from Shercock if the player done that and I would be equally embarrassed if the manager went into the opoposition dressing room and hung his own player out to dry!!

it was not shercock that were doing the head butting. Mountnugents no6 should win an oscar, pretending that he got headbutted and then plunged to the ground, and it wasnt the only incident that he was involved in. both teams seem to have discipline problems. I didnt think it was a great match, if mountnugent was able to convert their frees into points, it would have been a much closer contest.
