The last time the British Army were used as a means of tackling unemployment 50,000 Irishmen were slaughtered in trenches. Ironic that after 90 years of 'independence' that some people sem to want to go back to that. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 27/04/2010 15:11:47 631109 Link 0 |

The way the Mayo team plays in Croke Park I think their fans would want to join the French Foreign Legion.........to forget. However yes ta, ogall would probably be a good cheerleader for Lizzie Windsor's regiments. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9829 - 27/04/2010 16:25:46 631270 Link 0 |

The Brits used us a cannon fodder in Gallipoli and Flanders. As did the Americans during their civil war. Why is it that the Paddys always get sent into no mans land first? Scruffy2Donut (Cavan) - Posts: 1112 - 27/04/2010 16:47:00 631321 Link 0 |

Its a no brainer that they shouldnt be penalised for declining to go, but it is an option, with a steady wage, so why not make people aware of it? Some may see it as an opportunity to earn some much needed money and do something productive. There are many different job descriptions in the army, people seem to think that it is all front-line commandos stuff, it isnt the case. I see no harm in making people aware of the possibilities available to them TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 27/04/2010 18:55:41 631540 Link 0 |
