Once again people that have no belief in religion are the ones getting most annoyed by the Papal visit. I couldn't particulary care either way, I found the leaked memo quite amusing
_________

Again Pomeroy misses the point. People are annoyed by the UK government's pandering attitude to the Vatican, not the papal visit itself. Ratzinger should be arrested and questioned for his role in the cover-up and enablement of paedophile clergy.

I believe the club you support where involved in a similar cover-up and enablement, Celtic fans aren't so keen for an enquiry into that. Being Pope or not it should be investigated of course and I'm sure the authorities will if they feel it warrants investigation

Is there no thread where Patrique can't shoehorn a United reference into? Astonishing stuff! The shame is some people will manage to find some logic to what you are saying.

Bringing Celtic Football into a thread on a completely unrelated topic. Surprising coming from you Pomeroy.

you are missing full stop.
it seems that if another faith had been persecuted in this manner , your response what have been somewhat different, and u would be calling the civil servants racists or something along them lines.
i know the church has a lot 2 answer , but do think this is the way 2 attack a faith in whole.
i think not.

Just illustrating yet again that if Fergie had been a junior Civil Servant Man United fans (the unwashed ones) would have seen no harm.

Ta32 has generously proved my point.

Sorry Breff, but facts are facts.

Just pointing out the gaping holes in your argument Nocky like I do on every thread. It's so easy it's actually getting quite boring now

Folks lets face facts here, the only reason why some people on here are even getting annoyed about this, is because it was a Brit that said this, had it been anybody else and it wouldn't even have made the news. It's actually quite funny to see some people on here pretending to be quite shocked and traumatised by what was clearly some messing around by some minions in the Foreign Office, but all of a sudden some of us are great Catholics again, as the dastardly Brits have slagged off our beloved Pope. I actually think it was quite funny, at a higher level it is quite embarrassing for the British government, but time for a few people on here to lighten up.

no one is claiming 2 be great catholics, we are far from perfect.
the point i am making is the church is taking a battering over child abuse issues and rightly so, but what gives the uk government the neck 2 stick the boot in and our own crowd , they are still good people out there in the catholic clergy.. all iam saying its not nice 2 mock the faith.
the u.k foreign office timed this well, they knew right well what they were doing, as usual?

THE FOREIGN OFFICE attacked the POPE?????????????

When, why wasn't it oin the news?

That is serious.

Well a lot more serious than a junior clerk facing disciplinary measures for alleged e-mail abuse which also happened at the FO this week.

That was about the pope as well. Coincidence?

these junior lefties, in the foreign office have some cheek.
but think about it what kind of background do u think these idiots hail from. j.b.brigade.
do u think 4 one minute that a rabbi or muslim leader would be treated like this , no , they would not upset the rabbi [ labour would only lose their brown envelopes]

I suspect the junior clerk at the foreign office did something like this anti-semitic attack above.

But I suspect he was joking.

Any plans for the final solution?

the final solution.? ... i tell u something u have one sick sense of humour using the holocuast 2 strenghen a argument.
buts thats what u do best is that right. use the plight of people who suffered at the hands of nazis 2 win a debate.
i did not think u would step that low.

_____________
What would you suggest as a suitable punishment for what was in reality a joke - Yes it was in poor taste and yes it was made on his employers time.
If you have a read of the jokes thread on this forum you will see jokes about the death of the polish president and jokes about inter-racial marriages either of which are probably more offensive than this -- -Does the pope xxxx in the woods etc ?

them jokes about the polish president, or the right of someone u falls in love and wants 2 marry someone from a different creed or colour , are sick and unwarranted , why does hoganstand censor jokes about people dying.
the point i am making is that the daily mail and co. will be loving this ... but as u say it is ok as long as it was a joke.
