Just have a look at todays "entertainment" pages on the RTE site. There is one in particular regarding whether or not some ex big brother non entity is pregnant, that just sums up the whole effing thing, who is she, why would anyone care and most importantly for me, why is my national broadcaster reporting it?

The Irish 'English' tabloids are worse than their mother papers across the water. Ireland, North & South, is a sneaky, backstabbing, gossipy, rumour mongering oasis and it's no wonder these papers and programmes flourish. Look at the workplace, every time someone leaves their lunch/tea table the ones left talk about him/her and I would defy anyone to deny that. People get a kick out of others misfortune and absolutely love the boss giving someone else a b*ll**king so long as it's not them. The Germans called it schadenfraude, taking pleasure at others misfortune and the word could have been invented for Ireland. It's also no wonder that Irish people were the biggest touts, informers, enforcers for the British Empire and colonial rule. They did the dirty work against the native people in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the nasty clearances of the native Americans in the 19th century. Ireland was Britain's b*t*h and it looks like nothing has changed given the fawning, adoring, worshipping obsession of ALL things British in the Southern media and much of the population North & South.

Based on what you have just said Ulsterman, might I suggest that the status of Northern Ireland remain the same, that way the south can be our b*t*h like you say.

Yeah I get mine from a different irish website's entertainment section. It appears they get a feed from an american webiste as most of it is US related. every couple of days there is an absolute genius irony-free entertainment news-flash. I think Kelly Osbournes bunions was the nadir though.

You will note Juan, that every story featured relates to UK/US, is there ANYTHING occurring on these shores worthy of mention by our our own broadcaster?

This might be of some interest to some folks up north. It's about a fairly well known Orange Man.

Church Axes Gavin's Party

22.04.10

Charlotte Church has made Gavin Henson cancel his bachelor party.

The singer-and-presenter is reportedly worried about the rugby player's plans to fly out to Las Vegas with several of his pals ahead of their forthcoming wedding, and is insisting they throw a joint pre-martial party for their friends.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "He called up all his old pals and said he wanted to spend five days in Vegas drinking and partying. Gav wants it to be the party everyone remembers. All his friends are really up for it and his dad, Alan, is coming along too.

"Charlotte knows what Gav's schoolmates are like and reckons things will get out of hand. She's worried they'll shave his eyebrows off or get him arrested for something silly like being naked in the street.

"Now she's trying to talk Gav into having a joint do so she can keep her eye on him."

The 24-year-old star and her 28-year-old fiance - who have two children, Ruby, two, and 15-month-old Dexter - are reportedly hoping to tie the knot on Paradise Island in the Bahamas in the summer.

A source said: "Gavin and Charlotte are planning to get married in July. Gavin picked Paradise Island in the Bahamas because he likes the idea of seeing Charlotte walking down the beach in a wedding dress.

"They're hoping to exchange vows on one of the island's stunning white beaches, then have a glitzy reception afterwards. It's the perfect place for a romantic wedding."
