Philip McGuinness - Leitrim

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Prayers are asked for Leitrim senior football star Philly McGuinness who sustained a serious head injury playing for his club, Mohill, last evening. Philly is currently fighting for his life in Beaumount hospital. Lets hope and pray that Philly can pull yet another victory out of the fire. He is a true Gael and an absolute gentleman. Thoughts and prayers are especially with Philly's family and with all at Leitrim GAA right now.

Philly is the youngest of the 3 McGuinness brothers from Mohill, who have all played at all levels for their County.

John and MIchael were on the Leitrim team that won a Connacht Championship in 1998.

They were the backbone of their Clubs championship win in 2006 (first since 1971).

Their father Michael (RIP) was on the Leitrim Team of the Millenium.

Philly has suffered a very bad injury and is fighting for his life.

Please pray for him and our thoughts are with his family and all leitrim gaels this evening.

Hope he pulls through. Just puts everything in to perspective and also shows the risks that you take when you run out on to the field.

Terrible news. An amateur sport where lads give their all for club and county. Lets pray he makes a full recovery.
