Why is every 2nd thread on the non-GAA forum either about Celtic or Man United. Have you nothing better to do? Puddersthecat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1692 - 12/04/2010 15:58:50 615023 Link 0 |

The truth is that Celtic FC milk their tenuous Irish connection for all it's worth. They know the deluded fans will travel over in their thousands to wave the tricolour, sing their rebel songs and spend their money. The signing of the two Keane's were inspired, they would have been rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of all that money pouring in as the barstoolers bought their Celtic jerseys with Keane printed on the back. In a way I pity the Irish Celtic fans, in another way they amuse me. Those who I do feel sorry for are the genuine Scottish Celtic fans, they realise they are a Scottish club in Scotland but yet have to put up with supposed fellow fans giving them a bad name with their sectarian singing and actions. This poll tells us everything we already know, the only people that don't are those that show their Irishness by supporting a British team pplocal (Tyrone) - Posts: 5878 - 12/04/2010 17:12:45 615171 Link 0 |

it all depends on the scottish celtic fan.was talking to a few in a pub years back.they said if ireland and scotland was playing at the same time, they would watch the ireland game before the scotland game. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 12/04/2010 18:48:49 615311 Link 0 |

I have met several Celtic fans from Glasgow who support Ireland. Obviously the majority would support Scotland. Dr.Shephard (Leitrim) - Posts: 2187 - 13/04/2010 11:14:56 615802 Link 0 |

Pomeroy, has it not occured to you that many of us Celtic fans may also support a LoI club. Dr.Shephard (Leitrim) - Posts: 2187 - 13/04/2010 11:44:57 615854 Link 0 |
ah would u give it a rest for once Pomeroy. Everyone supports a club for some reason or another. No die hard Celtic supporter supports them cause of their links to Ireland. Theirs a lot of people who like to see Celtic do well cause of the link but these probably wouldn't call themselves supporters. But there's no real point in arguing with u cause u have to be one of the most narrow minded people of all time dizzydub (Dublin) - Posts: 339 - 13/04/2010 11:57:28 615872 Link 0 |
I find it hard to comprehend how you can be a true fan of more than one team in the same sport. Sure you can like other teams (in Scotland say I'd have a soft spot for Hibs) but is it really possible to passionately follow more than one football club. Clearly Doctor as you attend a lot of Sligo Rovers games they are your main team so well done for supporting your local club, I wouldn't be entirely sure other Celtic fans would be in the same boat pplocal (Tyrone) - Posts: 5878 - 13/04/2010 12:02:41 615880 Link 0 |
