Well done to all concerned. Interesting to hear Jim Mc Guinness say that they pick players firstly based on character and then they try give them the skills. That way when things are going against them he doesn't have anybody dragging the team down. Maybe the senior management team should take a similar approach.

Future looks good, 11 of the players that played last nite are underage again next year. Peter Boyle, Eamon Doherty, Thomas Mc Kinley, Conor Classon, Danny Curran, Daniel Mc Laughlin, Mark Mc Hugh, Dermot Molloy, Anton Mc Fadden, Sean O Kennedy and Peter Mc Nelis.

Well done to Jim, the backroom team and especially the players. Just want to give a quick mention of the last Donegal team to win an Ulster U-21 and maybe a reminder that Underage success doesn't automatically lead to Senior glory.
Here's the team that won the last Ulster U-21, after a replay, in 1995:

1. D. Nash (Milford)
2. N. McCready (Aodh Ruadh)
3. E. O'Donnell (Aodh Ruadh)
4. S. McEwan (St. Eunans)
5. P. McGinley (Killybegs)
6. D. Clarke (Bundoran)
7. D. McNamara (Bundoran)
8. D. Diver (Ardara)
9. J. Ruane (Bundoran)
10. B. Ward (Aodh Ruadh)
11. M. Coll (Gaoth Dobhair)
12. P. Gillespie (N. Columba)
13. A. Sweeney (Dungloe)
14. D. Buggy (Aodh Ruadh)
15. B. Roper (Aodh Ruadh)
Subs used: A. McFadden (Cloughaneely) and A. McGrath (Aodh Ruadh).
P. McTeague (Downings) and A. McFadden played in first game while S. Boyce (Cloughaneely) and S. McClafferty (Downings) came on as subs.

Only 2 of those players won a Senior Medal with Donegal.

Congratulations again on last night boys, and good luck in the future.

Some of them played for Donegal and did well. Some of them became good club players but never made the step up to County. Some of them just drifted away from the scene altogether. There's some great players on this years U-21 team and they need to be brought on bit by bit and not thrown in at the deep end. In my opinion: McLoone and Murphy should be on Senior first 15. Maybe Mulhern, Curran and Peter McGee on panel and I would be inclined to leave it at that. Eamonn Doherty, Paddy McGrath, Dermot Molloy, Antoin McFadden, Thomas McKinley, and Mark McHugh are definitely players for the future i.e. next year and not to be rushed this year, but i'm sure if you'd asked someone in 95, they'd have picked at least half a dozen players to go on and make the county jersey theirs too.

Not too sure about Kelly at midfield for Sunday. Thought one of the U21 men should have been given a chance around the middle as even before a ball is throw in, you can guarentee he wont be at the races. I hope im wrong though.

Would be nice to see Kavanagh or Toye back on the bench even just for a morale boost. Well done to U21s by the way. Really lifted the spirits!!
