Are Monaghan safe from relegation??

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Referee is also allowing a lot of Mayo pulling and dragging. I thought it was only Ulster sides that did this? Monaghan are getting nothing from the referee.

Monaghan have just lost a game on 1 -1 that Mayo scored in the 1 and a half minutes at the end of the first half that should not have been played. They were also allowed to pull and drag for most of the game while Monaghan were continually penalised for the same offences. Once again ONE set of laws for Ulster teams and ONE for the rest. Shocking!

Good comeback from Mayo. They are becoming a very difficult side to beat. Will probably make league final now and could win it. Ref gave a lot of soft frees to Monaghan. Monaghan are an ugly side to watch. Little flair or creativity on display for the Faney men. Varley looks like a real find for Mayo.

Ulsterman you're making a show of yourself with your foolish comments.

Hard luck Hugo looks very like the bookies are going to win again.

Ps if you have any more money to throw away don't hesitate to give me a shout.

Get down off the cross Ulsterman. Typical Ulster siege mentality.

Mayo are a bad side who got lucky today. They are soft physically and mentally and Monaghan should have been out of sight at half time. Mayo were allowed to pull and drag all game while Monaghan were largely penalised for the same offences. When a Monaghan man got possession he was often surrounded by Mayo players and was then blew up for holding on to the ball. When a Mayo player had possession and Monaghan men got around him they were penalised for crowding, it was so inconsistant out there to say nothing about the ridiculous timekeeping which cost Monaghan the game.

Oh look suprise suprise, Ulsterman the victim is venting his spleen again about the horrific treatment of Ulster teams the poor little defenceless darlings you would feel sorry for them!!!!!!!! On a side note well done Mayo, Monagahan were just not good enough to put them away.

Ulsterman....were you watching the same game as the rest of us? If anything the referee was completely siding with Monaghan! Mayo players were being dragged around the place and ended up being penalised for overcarrying every time they were surrounded by 3 or 4 Monaghan men who were throwing their fists into the tackle wildly whereas when it was the MOnaghan man with the ball Mayo were still penalised. Mayo could not buy a free from that referee today and I thought it was yet another disgraceful refereeing performance from the so-called 'best' refs in the country.

one set of rules for ulster teams and another for the rest might be true but its the other way round from what you are saying. Referees are afraid to penalise ulster teams for their style of play and then teams like Mayo, Galway & Cork who are not dirty teams are getting penalised at every opportunity by the refs

Yeh refs are afraid to penalise Ulster players...............just ask Tyrone, Monaghan and Derry who have all had players banned because the Dublin media demanded it. Anyway why are you ALL ignoring the timekeeping which cost Monaghan the game?? Wouldn't be because it was an Ulster side that lost would it? Imagine the 26 county outcry and Southern media frenzy if Monaghan had scored 1 -1 after the first half was up! Mmmmmm.......

Swinford ,go easy on Monaghan.
just because an Antrim man is winding u up,dont talk Monaghan down like that.
i thought it was a fair game.the ref was poor for both teams.just a poor ref.
the timing of the first half goal was laughable ,but thats football.

"23 county outcry" of course. That was the luckiest result of the year. Game should have been over at half time if the correct amount of injury time had been played. Monaghan had them beat off the park.
