How much will Mayo win the All-Ireland by?

Anyone else notice that some of the galway posters seem particularly sore about this? You always get a bit of ribbing but these boys genuinely seem to be upset. Whats wrong with ye lads? Why are ye so concerned about it?

i think posters should note this thread was started by a galway man, mabey if galway were doing well, their supporters might have their concentration else where besides starting silly threads.

We enjoy being around the bottom, if anything like the last few seasons has anything to go by.

How does watching counties, other than your own(as they will not be there), on tv in late july(thats being generous) go for you?

I'm a bit disappointed with the Galway lads on here, mixing with the nordies and all. Its a bit of a surprise. I'd support all the Connacht teams (Except the Sligo/Mayo B team) and i thought they would do the same.

That song was actually about a horse......plastic paddy!!

But there again it could have been about Tyrone pre 2003.....when Gaelic Games seems only to have been founded in Tyrone.

I hope the actual team see this thread, i don't really care anymore what people outside of the county think. It is intended as some sort of a joke by a Galway man, i can't see the funny side of it personally. Mayo are still in top six/seven like they have been last 15/20 years, like i have said before we have not won it since 51 and i have never heard anyone in Mayo shouting about winning AIs so i dont know where people from outside of the county come up with these notions, if anything we are guilty of being too negative, there could be a case made for this being our downfall.

A lot of hs users mistake our enthusiasm for the game and our love for our county with unjustified notions. There is a tag that comes with Mayo that is hard to explain in words, when we burst onto the scene in 89 after a long absence from the big time, a lot of outsiders wanted Mayo to win an AI. We were seen as a sort of "ah we'd love to see poor Mayo win one", that has developed into a near hate scenario because of the amount of times we have been to s/f, finals without winning sam, it has become annoying for some onlookers as most know we left at least two AIs behind us.
This year sees a new wave of optimism for the future, not because i think we will/will not wim AI but we have a lovely brand of footballers coming into their prime.

51longago - agree with everything you said there. dont want the4 sympthony card but it is getting old, all this inferior attitude from other counties just because its mayo. i would even go as far to say some poster in here seem to be obessesed with our team and history.

Jesus i used to have a lot of time for Tyrone posters but for the last while some of ye have started to become seriously annoying!!Before 2003 ye had asolutely nothing to shout about. Ye had only won 9 Ulster titles up to then and 0 All-Irelands!! Mayo have much more tradition in our county than ye. and the thing is ye still have the same number of AI titles as ye at the moment!!

Heard Enda McNulty on the radio last night talking about Armagh. He said the reason they made the breakthrough was because they were sick and tired of coming down to Croke Park and getting beaten. That drove them on to the next level.

Until the Mayo players just get sick of getting beaten in Croker and decide to raise their levels to do something about it, then we won't progress. I know, as a suporter, I'm just sick of getting beaten at headquarters, on many occassions to inferior teams.

I genuinely hope Mayo do make the break through in the next few years, even if there are a few of the idiotic posters on this forum hailing from Mayo, they are still a fine footballing county.

To be honest I see no reason why they cant win this year as they are improving. My own county Tyrone appear to have regressed, as have Kerry with the loss of a number of players. Cork are probabaly many people's favourites at the moment but certainly this year appears one of the most open championships in years. Have a notion that this thread may come back to haunt a few of the posters later on in the year, especially those who are dismissive of Mayo's chances. So remember my wise words, Mayo can win Sam!!!

Id say its something to do with the fact that half of your people live within our county and we're the ones who have to listen to the ramblings of deluded Mayo men every day at work and in the pubs.

I remember a great Ray Silke article about this once. After one pint the Mayo people were saying that they had a good team this year. After 2, they were saying they had a good chance to win the league, After 3, a connaught championship was the least they would achieve....etc etc. Basically after 8 or 9 pints, the Mayo people had concluded that the bouncing ball equalizer in the last minute of the 1996 All Ireland had actually been caught and Mayo had actually won the All Ireland that year

So do I 51longago, in fact I believe John O Mahony should hang this thread up on the locker room door and read it out loud and clear for all the players. Who knows what it might inspire the mighty Mayo men into doing. In fact this thread could actually be the difference between Mayo winning and losing the AllIreland this year.

It really could
