Best defender in the game

So who do you think he is? I would rate Marc O Se highly and probably the best man marker there is...McMenamin is also good, as is Anthony Lynch.

Best man marker is Brady of Antrim, who marked Johnson(Cavan) Gooch and Murphy (Donegal) and Stephen O'Neill last year and conceded 2 points from play.

McMenamin may be a very good defender but he would not be in the top 1,000 as a man marker.

So Antrim not only have the best playmaker but also the best man marker in the game.

My God, Antrim must be the new Kerry!!!!

Johnny McCarthy of Limerick....in league or championship he's as consistent as they come. Should have been nominated for an all-star on two or three occasions at least but that's what you have to go without when you play for Limerick!

For us at present is it Geard O Kane, he is very consistent. He has been the Captain of 2 AI winning teams, please God let he make it 3!

True apprentice. Michael McGuinness Leitrim, is as tight man marker as they come. Ask Mattie Forde, Michael Meehan, Benny Coulter etc. Karl Lacey and McMenamin most over rated defenders out there.

Lacey overrated??I think 2 all stars beg to differ,u obviously know very little about the art of defending..He kept 2 of the countrys leading marsmen to 1pt between them in last yr champ, paddy bradleey and mich meehan..The great dessie dolan once said he is the tighest tuffest man marker ever had to face and he has lined out against them all..

i agree, Lacey is arguably one of the best defenders ever. Agree however that Ryan Mc Menamin is vastly overrated

For me one of the best defenders was sean marty lockheart. He's a hard as nails and a great footballer. He's finisher now i think but i just thought id throw that in :)

Tomas O Se or Karl Lacey.

Good to see Patrique thinks all the best players come from Antrim yet again! ;-)

5 years ago yes but not now, afraid he will never get back to the standard he was at after all the injury problems

I don't know, hope he does but he has been out for 3 years with probably only 6 months of football in those 3 years. Maybe you could shed a bit of light being from the same club as him
