RTEs coverage of weaker counties

Agree, I would like to see some of the football and hurling from the lower divisions. I think there is plenty of onterest in them as well.

RTE provides reasonable highlights show for rugby and soccer, with photgraphy provided by the clubs and organisatons from those sports involved. The GAA should be proactive in this and and employ professional cameramen themselves and release the highlights to show these games.

RTE don't have the money to send out camera crews to the games as they are too busy over paying staff. Surely if they were given these games at no cost to them they would broadcast them?

If not, why not set up a website that stream highlights of these games?

The increase in TV viewership through the web worldwide is a market the GAA should exploit as it could prove to be a highly profitable venture for the organisation and useful resource for fans, especially those abroad.

Thoughts?

Rte.ie/sport is a joke -i always make the same mistake to go on after games to look at the results in Div 3 (and Div 4 last year) but they never have the results even up--it gives headlines of games in div 1 and 2 games and then when you click on 'more headlines' they have nothin about Div 3 and 4 --disgrace.

I agree with an earlier poster saying that there is nothing to say games should be shown live -- i for one would watch a re-run of Derry v Armagh hurlers on a Tuesday evening or Limerick v Kilkenny footballers or any game during the week.

I remember a few year ago watching O'Byrne Cup re-runs on Tuesday/Wednesdays on Setanta Ireland and even watching Cumann na mbunscoil and Feile games re-ran on the same channel --i think real GAA fans would be interested in watching all games (not just the 'top' teams) especially during the week instead of watching Fair City or whatever other Cooking show is on TV etc.

In all those games at lower levels and different age groups there are players worth watching and often less cynical, open games that you might not see at other levels (not to say its not great to watch Donaghy, the Gooch, Stevie Mac and Stevie O'Neill etc)

Weeknightly re-runs (even club championship re-runs) are an option RTE and TG4 have to consider
