They can't be compared, the same way Shefflin and Carey can't be compared, they are completely different hurlers. Carey got slatted for choking in all ireland finals, Canning hasn't been to one yet, if he gets to a couple and doesn't play well, people will hands down say Shefflin. Only time will tell. Definitely has the potencial to be one of the greats although Noel McGrath and Richie Hogan are every bit as skillful.

course i love joe canning as a hurler. im about 10 years too old
dont know the guy... galway do have alot of good hurlers come from minors but get lost going to senior level. but does one man make a team tho in fairness ollie canning is one of the best backs also. and no not in love!! with ollie either

Yes he is, but I worry that his ongoing groin issues will never be dealt with and we will lose possibly the greatest talent yet. He has 10 years to do before he can even be considered for that so lets hope he is sorted out.
