Joe Canning and Henry Shefflin are the best modern day hurlers by a country mile and to compare both is unfair to either player!! Supermacs88 (Galway) - Posts: 248 - 19/03/2010 21:12:52 593100 Link 0 |

Joe is a fantastic player. Full stop. Cannot and should not compare him with Henry. Time to do that in 10 years time. For the moment... let us enjoy all that is Joe. A magnificent hurler. Has it all. Worth a long drive to just watch him play. carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1881 - 21/03/2010 09:23:51 593742 Link 0 |

Only for Canning galway would be in a bit of trouble, his shoulders must be sore carrying the team through all those matches. Biffo (Carlow) - Posts: 91 - 21/03/2010 12:54:48 593850 Link 0 |
all your comments are good. but cant compare canning to shefflin just yet. and unfortunately canning prob wont win to many all ireland senior finals with galway.. but beside that one of the best at the moment caroline79 (Galway) - Posts: 130 - 23/03/2010 12:23:08 596036 Link 0 |
There is no doubt about it. At 21, Joe Canning has produced more brilliant hurling than any player ever at that age. The rest of the comparisons will have to wait for another 10 years. nevergivein (Roscommon) - Posts: 115 - 23/03/2010 21:35:17 596960 Link 0 |
Yes, JC is awesome. At 21, already, he is a better hurler than the brilliant Henry. It's not fair to use 'titles won' to compare the two. Teams win titles, not individuals. Milic1888 (Galway) - Posts: 132 - 24/03/2010 09:57:54 597080 Link 0 |
Milici,as a KK man I will agree with you that you cant compare hurlers on the basis of what they have won,but to say that Joe is better than Henry might be pushing it a bit,Joe is great hurler and as I said before on another post he comes across as a true sportsman and gentleman,I dont think we should be comparing them at all, they are 2 great men, lets just enjoy watching them play and all the other great players from all our hurling counties who are giving all their supporters great pleasure. mooncat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 538 - 24/03/2010 11:19:16 597170 Link 0 |
Couldn't agree more with the orignal poster. But not only is he a class act on the field he is a model of good behaviour off it. I have seen him waiting at the end of a match signing hurls for youngsters without a hint of complaint. mod (Mayo) - Posts: 859 - 24/03/2010 11:45:02 597204 Link 0 |
Hes a fantastic hurler but this nonsense that he is a better hurler than Henry can wait for 10 years or so. Joe is great but Henry is still King (for the time being) Joe Joe (Galway) - Posts: 253 - 24/03/2010 12:03:20 597248 Link 0 |

Mooncat has the story right. Enjoy the two of them. Great men both. Now can we please stop this ridiculous comparison. Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6180 - 24/03/2010 20:46:32 597912 Link 0 |
Ya tommy walsh great hurler and he'll come out with the ball, i've heard from certain quarters that he is costantly fowling but always gets away with it fair play to him.. theedge (Sligo) - Posts: 2 - 24/03/2010 20:52:05 597921 Link 0 |
