I've never cried after a game but I've certainly welled up with tears and let them flow a few times during games. Especially when we would be in a purple patch where it would be looking like maybe we were going to win. Alas they were seldom victories. When I took my seat for the A I final high up in the Cusack Stand in 07 while the players stood for the national anthem I cried. I actually convinced myself we were going to do it that day, alas. The hurling inspires me so much it's only when we're winning or when I think we're going to win I cry. When they lose I don't get emotional I just go numb and switch off. 2002 - cried with pain in my right hand after shaking the hands of the 7 Kerry supporters i was at the match with. Think there was a tear in their eyes. Although in fairness they were very magnanimous and were delighted for Armagh supporters;-) Chester1970 (Armagh) - Posts: 509 - 15/03/2010 11:53:08 588275 Link 0 |

Once when a kid when Dublin were beaten by Kildare (yes, fkn Kildare!!) in first round of Leinster hurling championship in Aughrim. 1977 I think it was. We had done well in the league so were looking forward to semi final against the Cats. Had family connections with the team so it was a bad day. Remember stopping on way back and all the adults, including players and management, got pissed as newts and roaring laughing. It has been the safety mechanism of the Dublin hurling supporter that I have employed ever since :-) hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 23/04/2010 15:39:42 627018 Link 0 |
