Puddersthecat well said. Some people like fonejacker seem to think that if kilkenny stop winning the championship will open right up!! I'm a proud laois man but i know our limitations. The only way up is to improve ourselves. Not to hope all the opposition drop off!

Kilkenny are on top, but with Tipp, Galway and Waterford closing the gap. Hurling has become hugely competitive, and Kilkennys dominance, rather than spoiling the sport, seems to have encouraged the other counties to imporve their game. Well done Kilkenny!!

Football on the other hand seems to have turned into a three-horse race these last few years; Cork-Tyrone-Kerry. With some pretenders to the crown like Dublin and Mayo, whose challenges never amount to anything and fade miserably by the semi's.

I honestly can't believe any supporter of the stronger teams would be happy that their team only scored a point in 40 minutes of hurling no matter how they played in the first 30 mins and wouldn't have been happy with the first 30 either if i were you no killer instinct there what so ever, seem like their waiting on joe to come back and any time that has to depend on one player has to be questioned i know we depended on solely eoin kelly for years!!! And no i don't think galway faded out it had more to do with Tipp getting in the game.

I wish the Clare hurling team would play on the edge. I train teams to try and get them to be physical, dominating, robust, but within the limits allowed. At this moment in time, I feel Tipp are going that little bit better than Kilkenny and have a slight edge this year. Of course I could be wrong. My rankings could change significantly come mid June or July.

Pudders is right until someone beats Kilkennt they are the best team in the country.

Until Galway, Tipperary, Cork et al actually step up to the mark then there is no point in even debating it.

As for Kilkenny ruining the game............some comments are just stupid.

no wonder laois hurling is in the doldrums for years now if hurling people in the county are like you. your going round praising kilkenny when you should be fierce rivals. For once such a proud and strong hurling county its like yere sitting back there with this attitude "oh kilkenny are the best theres no point in competing, lets just let the game die here in laois". have a bit of guts man and speak out.
Yes kilkenny all get the breaks and decisions 3 examples in the all ireland last year
1. In my opinionm Tommy walsh provoked benny dunne to be sent off, he tilted dunnes helmet with his hurl from behind leading dunne to react. Understandable when some1 does that to you.
2. The last kilkenny goal, in the lead up richie power with a high ball coming in pushed 2 tipp defenders on top of one another and they collided leaving martin comerford through on goal, we all know the result then.
3. the penalty richie power presumably got was not a penalty, fair enough he was fouled but it was well outside the area, he took a lot of steps before eventually going to ground in the area.

Im not from kildare i only live there if thats what ye want to know either

fonejacker regarding your post directed towards markymark. No one is bowing down to kilkenny and letting hurling die in their county. He is just acknowledging that kilkenny are a brilliant team. Something that you cant seem to except. I for one agree that they do play the rules on the edge but so what. The only reason why teams like Dublin, Galway and most of all Tipp came close to them last year is because they adapted that style of play. I am no lover of kilkenny whatsoever and would always support the team they are playing against but I have nothing but respect for what they have achieved.

The best hurling team there has ever been IMO!

HAG & CHEESE -

I'd take the Canning's, John Lee and Shane Kavanagh. He'd be a great sub to bring on if Brian Hogan got injured after coming on as a sub.

Ondabutton. I have tried to stay out of this as I know you are one of 3 things,
1. Crazy
2. a multi account poster (which is obvious and shows you have to back yourself) and
3. Wrong

Right, where to start with this craziness? When was the last time Galway beat us in a match of importance? 2005?

Since then we have played 3 times and the results are KK won by 5, 10 and 4 points. No I'll grant you that you got closer last year but I think KK did well with a second choice full back, second choice centre back AND 4th choice midfielder.

If you list the Galway team that should start come championship I'll list the Kilkenny and we can have a post where people post who they would play in each position? How does that sound?

A few things, he is not a Kilkenny man, as Kilkenny fans don't tend to build up their team like this at all…..
And also Kilkenny are the cleanest of the top 6 teams as well as the dirtiest over the past 4 years, 2 Sendings off in 4 years.
That is a better record than any other county (I've been told by a cork man) we give away a lot of frees, yes but who cares, the fouls are never dirty and we haven't been dirty by anyone of significance involved in Hurling.

Re Tommy Walsh provoking Benny Dunne, this goes on all the time (look at the Kilkenny Cork match last Sunday so many players changed helmets due to "interference" so if he did it fine, is that an excuse to swing full force with the hurl at someone's face? If you think so then you are not a hurling fan you are a thug.

Overall I want to say as good as this current Galway team are they are still behind Kilkenny and Tipp, and this is proven by the fact that they were beaten in the championship, last season by the 2nd oldest squad and the one team who EVERYONE has said are over the hill or "past it" Waterford.

Fonejacker if you read my post i said that its up to everyone to improve to kilkenny's level. Not to hope they come back a few steps to ours!

Kkid im not crazy, im not a multi account poster and I most definetely amn't wrong. KK are a dirty team in my opinion and that's a fact-they are a very unattactive team to watch as a result. I know from Brian Cody's pov that it's very much a results based game but id prefer if they used legal tactics to achieve success. Two sendings off in 4 years doesnt prove anything. It only illustates the poor quality of refereeing and referees continuing bias towards KK.

have to agree with ondabutton as regards kilkenny playin dirty, In fairness tommy walsh is a great hurler but in my opinion he has an ugly side who has got away with far too much in the past as the team in a whole. How can all you people replying on this thread respect kilkenny me and ondabutton are the only questioning kilkennys fairness. Having spoken to people evrywhere everyone is sick of kilkenny playin dirty and getting away with it all these niggling little clever fouls on other players, look at what they did in the 2007 final, they targeted seamus hickey of limerick and gave him a physical hammering. If their so god damn skilful why cant they play alone with it and not play dirty and hammer teams.
Galway would have beaten them last year only for the grounds in tullamore the pitch was too tight for the light and nimble galway fowards to prosper kilkenny penned them in and used their roughhouse tactics to ground out a win.

Ondabutton, will you stop….. There is no bias towards Kilkenny …. Look at the league match last weekend, why didn't the wing back walk for use of the hurl too? Richie Power got 2 frees given against him for nothing. It's all swings and roundabouts, decisions usually balance themselves out over the season.

You are entitled to you your opinion, but your opinion is wrong.

Will you take me up on the 15 vs 15 argument??

KKid im right lets just leave it at that. As for picking the galway team for the championship well thats very difficult given the amount of talent galway have.
