"I'd put O'Haras goal in ahead of Mulligans for two simple reasons:
1. O'Hara did not foul the ball on two occasions in the build up to taking the shot and
2. Eoin Mulligan is expected to score goals against big teams, no disrespect but O'Hara isn't. "

Bull on 2 accounts, Mulligan did not foul the ball, it was a perfectly legit goal, pure quality and O Hara I would love to see him lining out alongside anyone in the Tyrone midfield. I would be expecting this level from a player of his stature everytime he lines out.

Favourited scores:
Hurling: DJ's point on Ollie Baker in the 2002 Final.
Football: The Peter the great's point in the 2005 final from inside the 14 yard line under the canal end just after Tomas O Se hit the Kerry goal pure class.
There was a Ciaran McManus goal for Offlay against Dublin (I think) in the Leinster championship 5+ years ago, he hit into the top corner from outside the 21 yard line.
As mentioned before beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Either James Nallen's goal or James Horan's goal against Kerry in the 1996 semi-final. Nallen ran from the half-back line and drilled it in from 30yards while Horan lobbed the goalkeeper(probably going for a point) from about 50m out and into the net. a great day for Mayo football, heres hoping a day like that returns soon :-)

SHINNERS, What are you even talking about, you can watch that goal in slow motion on the internet anyday and it shows there was no foul in mulligans goal. He didnt let the ball change hand when he threw the dummies and he didnt take too many steps. I hate when people like you try to take something away from a classic goal like that out of jealousy.

personnaly think seamus darbys goal is the best of all time, have never seen mulligan or anyone put as much bend on a ball... roy malone got two great goals in a leinster final in 1997.
maurice fitz dropped over so many great scores, think it was 97all ireland he took a free off the ground with the left barrell and then struck one off the carpet with his right.pure genius. the point in thurles is my favorite of all time.
and yes mugsy fouled the ball...twice

Not sure which year... It was around the time when they had 'the best team of all time' (Sheehy, Liston, Egan, Spillane, O'Sé srl.) But Mikey Sheehy's lob against the Dublin goalie ( I think his name was Cullen) , taking a quick free.... Absolute Genious!

Not many people would have seen it but has to be Paul Finlay's free in U21 final against Tyrone in Enniskillen. I can still remeber the crowds reaction to this day, utter disbelief, 55 yards out against the wind on the wrong side for a left footer and he ballooned it over the bar.

Maurice Fitz's from the sideline was real top class, but see knowone has mentions Anthony Tohill. He scored a cracker free from about 60 yards (well in his own half anyway) of the ground, to draw the game. And was told it was the last kick of the game, so pessue on. Straight over the black with room to spare. I have also seen him kick the ball from about the 45, follow it in win the braking ball and stick it over the bar. A fine athlete. You dont see many people hitting themselves a long pass into the full farward line!

FOOTBALL:
Defo has to be my goal against St. Judes in 1988!
Lost my balance running towards goal but the ball hit my foot as I slid forward and somehow managed to go over the keepers head and bulge the net!
Its spoken about 'til this day in the clubhouse! 'The miracle goal of Snufalufagus!'
Not bad for a man in a No. 7 jersey!
Of course I didnt have to worry about my man in the forwards, he was frightened to death of me!

HURLING:
Defo has to be my point against Faughs!
Right up in the left corner of the field, I lost my man and turned back inside. From so far out, the angle was so tight you could hardly get a credit card through the slot, but ol Snuffy would not be put off by such trivial things. With measured deft and grace the small ball sailed over the bar and between the posts to the stunned amazement of all onlookers! But such a thing was the meat and veg of ol Snuffy!

Regards,

Snufalufagus......Laochra Gael

6404 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and therefore i choose a point that Peter Canavan scored against Derry in the Ulster semi final of 1995. Nostalgia always helps your memories but he danced through the Derry defence before being hit by Henry Downey with a perfectly timed shoulder. Canavan was knocked down onto one knee before bouncing back up and kicking the ball over the bar with his left foot. Pure Genius
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That point was incredible - was Canavan at his incomparable best. Would also mention De Paor's point from Donnellan's solo-run (watching the game fmo the Hoganstand, I had never seen someone move as quickly with a football), Mulligan's goal and James McCartan's point against Derry in 1994 (long run shrugged off a couple of Derry men and curled over a point while off-balance, at a crucial time inthe greatest game I have ever seen).

Have to agree with most of them. But what about Maurice Fitzs free off the ground with his "bad" foot V Mayo '97! Unbeliveable skill. I couldn't belive it when I saw what he was about to do. When he put it over then....... Has anyone even tried that in such an important game?
