were kierans good or claughan terrible? kierans have been sleeping giants for years, some great players if they can get it together, its nearly about time they did, hurlers09 (Limerick) - Posts: 13 - 30/04/2010 09:32:11 634307 Link 0 |
Abbeyfeale were beaten a point by Adare, no big surprise there as far as Im concerned anyway, although alot of people thaught Abbey would win, mark my words they are an overrated side that wont go anywhere with the type of "foot"ball that they are playing, it is a pity really because in farenes thay have some good young lads coming through but they also seem to be slipping into the rubbish of the all possession handpassing game that will eventually wreck the game, the gaa missed their chance to put a stop to this this year and will now have to wait until 2015 I think, by then I fear it will have gone too far, it is becoming an increasingly poor sport to follow so all one can hope is that teams like Abbeyfeale will fail for a few years and then see the error of their ways and go back to playing proper football. It is very importat in my view that this will hapen, because other smaller clubs will see that the likes of abey and drom got to couny finals by playing this "foot"ball and will eventually follow suit. If this will hapen it will be a dark day for the GAA and the begining of the end of the wonderful sport of football as far as I am concerned. waitingsince73 (Limerick) - Posts: 188 - 30/04/2010 10:15:30 634352 Link 0 |
Waitingsince1973: there's no rule outlawing the foot pass. I suggest you take up a coaching position with a senior club and implement your style of choice. It would be interesting to see how you'd get on. If you're successful, then other clubs / coaches might follow suit. football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 30/04/2010 11:56:49 634491 Link 0 |
Was impressed with my home club Kierans & there comfortable win over Claughaun. I know Claughaun are minnows but after years of disappoint there is some light for our proud club. Who knows, another 2 wins and it could be the knockout stages. Will be travellin to Killmallock later this eve to see Newcastle take on Ballylanders. Theres been a lot of talk about Newcastle but its been all underage success & theyve never produced it at senior level, tonight is there night to stand up & be counted against good opposition. foxy_box (Limerick) - Posts: 86 - 30/04/2010 12:57:07 634611 Link 0 |
I gather that Waitingsince'73 is bemoaning the direction football is taking rather that 1 particular team. Was at the first county final game last year and it was pure muck, rugbyleague style lines of runners. Now if it is suits your team then fair enough, a win is a win, but I think there must be good ball players who are sick of being glorified runners. The top inter county teams have reintroduced kicking, I fear that many of our clubs are still playing with the Ulster revolution tactics when they could do better. Pallasgreen very ulucky not to get a result out thier game with St Senans at Claughaun. After been on top for most of the game, a goal on the stroke of half time was crucial to St Senans when Pallas were 4 points ahead. Second half was a nip and tuck affair with St Senans emerging winners 2-7 to 1-9 AChairdegael (Limerick) - Posts: 9 - 30/04/2010 14:08:53 634698 Link 0 |

Ballysteen 009 St Pats 105, good game of football which ultimately came down to free takers. M carrig had 100 per cent accuracy ,saints missed quiet a few.. Wides count was somethin like pats 14 ballysteen 5, Two nice football sides both should do well ,draw would have been fairest result!! refereeing poor for both sides but bit harsher on pats, especially with controversy wit last minute free when he blew up when it was taken short. Refereeing needs serious adressing!!!!Ballysteen in hot seat for another good season silentassassin (Limerick) - Posts: 103 - 02/05/2010 11:02:10 635677 Link 0 |
Well said interloper, I am talking about the way that football is going in general, I am just using Abbeyfeale as an example because they are probarly the worst team for doing it, and foxybox if you actually read the post I said that they have good players comming through and they could turn out to be great footballers, believe me in one thing I am in no way jealous of Abbeyfeale above all otgher places, I would rather not play sport than play for a club like that, and again I will agree with interloper I was also at the county finals last year and it was unbelieveable to thing we were at a senior club final, the football was absolute boring rubbish, as far as I can see their aim is not to play football but to stop the other team from playing, so sorry if you cant accept my "narrow minded" views but they are FACTS, and if you think that I or anyone else believes you that you are from ardagh you are sadly mistaken waitingsince73 (Limerick) - Posts: 188 - 02/05/2010 12:21:34 635719 Link 0 |
In regard to Limerick U21 Hurling Championship - I presume points difference in group 2 does not count now seeing as Mungret have already given a walkover. Allaughan Gaels play Mungret next, presume they get the points which puts them on 6 and into third. That then deems the Na Piarsaigh v Doon game irrelevant. If its a draw Gaels go through as they are on 6 pts and Na P and Doon would be on 5 each. If Doon win, it will go head to head with the Gaels, which puts the Gaels through as they have beaten Doon. If Na Piarsaigh win, it will go head to head with the Gaels, which will also put the Gaels through as they have beaten Na Piarsaigh last week. fast_hands (Limerick) - Posts: 116 - 02/05/2010 13:30:33 635772 Link 0 |
