Poaching inter country players

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This is a rarely discussed topic. We all know that Kildare were a bit like the United Nations back in 1998 with the number of non natives playing for them but what about here and now. Sligo have become known as the Mayo B team for there use of Mayo players. Fair enough these are players that cannot make the Mayo team but it is still not right.

I meant that there was one in Cavan and one in Liatroim. How is Gareth Smith getting on in anyways?

Nothing wrong with players wanting to further themselves. Thomas Walsh would testify to that.

Dell's home club Urnai in Tyrone have a young lad Fergal McNulty playing for Donegal, but Derry have been taking Tyrone players like Enda Muldoon, Conleith Gilligan, Niall McCusker, Colin Devlin, Michael McIver and James Conway for years.

Well any team Micko has managed, had made the most of getting other counties players, by hook or by crook.

Ok Dell, he may not have been poached but when I seen him playing against Greencastle in last years championship our big midfielders left him sunny-side-up on more than one occasion........

Dell, Do you's have many Donegal men playing for Urney? They reckon it was deadly in the 70's and 80's before proper teamsheets were created. You often hear the oul people talking about it round our way....
