581307 i dont know what happened our forwards today but 18 wides says it all really. we did miss alot of easy frees but there was also poor shot selection in general. any positives?, well we did create alot. gardinear and mcgarrity were big losses. overall i wuddnt be pressing any panic buttons yet, although listening to radio 1 on the way home you would think mayo were just hammered in an all ireland final.

as for dublin, they didnt have near as many chances as mayo but took them any had only 3 wides id say. the tackling was intense and the dublin backs put alot of pressure on the mayo forwards. so well done to the dubs, they deserved their win in the west. ...........Fair comment yew tree giller is trying to sort the defence out after watching today i think were on the right track.

It wont go down as a classis or a good game- But i believe both teams showed that come the summer they will give any team problems..Enjoyed the west and the good welcome from mayo fans ..But i thought the crowd was much smaller that the last time i was there..The bad times are really hitting the fans..

Sooooooo happy we won. The win is the icing on the cake. I'm just so happy that we seem to have a bit of hunger in our bellys for every ball. Now here's hoping we can carry this attitude into the championship with us.

Good man Brolly.......i think your very wrong with that statement of yours. Your speaking for yourself and whatever other worms that listen to the WUMs that come on here from the county. I think you would find that the majority of the folk dont mind Mayo folk at all. I dont know how you can downgrade a county which plays a fair better brand of football than your own, has more tradition than your own and will be in the championship longer than your own!!!! You guys have only being started to be recognised (over-hyped in my opinion) in the last 3 years!

i will tell you what i mean, the mayo brigade are the first to kick a team when they are down, just ask the tyrone and dublin lads on here, the abuse they took mainly from the mayo brigade when they were knocked out of last years championship was way out of order.

Looks like even a kerry fan is finding it hard to keep their feet on the floor with dublins good run of form :) , nah but seriously , 6 points from 6 is a better start then i expected and i like to think im an optimist, at the start of the league campaign 4 weeks ago , we travelled to kerry with the mindset and the goal of staying in division one , and it looks all but certain that that goal has been achieved , anything else now is a bonus , the workrate has been hard to fault so far , beat kerry fair and square down in killarney and played some very good stuff at times , when we came up against derry it was much more frustrating to watch and in general it was bad ball bar the last 10 minutes or so , today it wasnt great on the eye and if it wasnt for Mayos wastefulness we would not of come out of that game with two points , but at the end of the day we did and im over the moon with the start we have made , its easy to get carried away and suggest dublin are dark horses , but lets add a bit of realism to the situation , its the first weekend in march , not the first in august , to find ourselves in the position we are is good going but theres alot of work to be done , not only in the next 3 months , but the next 3 years , it will take alot of time and work before dublin are amongst the big guns again challenging for all irelands , and thats being optimistic at the very least , the main thing is that we get a few guys from this league campaign who will just stop the likes of barry cahill , david henry , alan brogan , conal keaney , ste cluxton and so on just walking in to the team ..

Monaghan next week is a very big game , if we come out of that with another two points there is a realistic chance that we could be playing in croke park on the 25th of april .. im not getting carried away ,, im delighted our division one status seems safe enough and with a little bit of luck , then maybe we can get a crack of a league final , but thats for another day , most important thing now is to get the lads back on the training ground and work on ways to improve and try to beat monaghan in 6 days time ..
