U21's v Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Louth were hammerred today as I expected although the game went to extra time Dublin were the superior team and always looked dangerous. The sending off of the Dublin player was harsh and if he stayed on the field we would have got away from a dull and dreary Dowdalshill quicker.Dublin are a very poor team and they will not win out Leinster.

Louth could not take their own luck today which is disappointing. They had the ability but couldn't take their chances when they come. Really should have wrapped it up as Dublin let us stay in the game with all their wides and then that harsh sending off. Say the lads are gutted after that. Would be nice to close out the odd game against decent competition now and again. CL in goal pulled off a few fab saves aswell. At least this defeat will clear the young lads for the Seniors now. Come on An Lu!

Fatman what club do you belong to....?

I'm ignoring your moronic post
As you have no idea of football, how to play it and how to evaluate a performance or indeed what it takes to win
as you are one of these people in life who will in fact never know.

Its ironic but i felt Dublins Number 25 Quinn was the difference....We lost a number of players by naming a panel of 24 and they bend the rules and get a victory....ingenious!

We were not good enough but it did not stop us playing as a team and posing some serious questions with a spirited performance against superior opposition
Best of luck to Dublin in the remainder of the campaign

I would like to inform Sledger that I am a member of Glyde Rangers and Sledger your comment regarding the Dublin number 25 David Quinn is pathetic as Dublin would have had a 24 man panel but Quinn would have replaced one of the listed subs in the panel. Quinn is a very talented player as he was a regular with NUI Maynooth during the Sigerson cup and he is a big strong man as well.Do your research before you comment again Sledger.

Great!! a positive Glyde man......not!!

what research?? i know who he is.....he played on the wing against us last year in drogheda.....Did you know?

If you weren't so miserable to buy a programme ....you would have noted that they named 10 replacements
He was named Number 25 so he did not replace anyone....

I didn't need a programme as I would know all of the Louth players and the majority of the Dublin players unlike you Sledger.

haha... I very much doubt it ;)

and you've just proved that my point about player number 25 was right....

Dublin named and togged out an extra option on the bench

Sledger both teams had fifteen men on the pitch until the harsh sending off of the Dublin player.

Great effort today by the lads, but the auld Wee County menatlity let us down again against the Dubs, just like the seniors in 92 & 96 and the minors in 03,the Dubs were on a plate & we couldnt finish them off...
Is it a physological thing? Very frustrating .
We wont have as good an U21 team for a few years again.
On a positive note, Jim Mc Eneaney is a serious talent & should figure at senior level very soon.

Great effort by the Louth team today, should have wrapped it up inside the 70mins. Great performances from Shevlin and Craven in the half back line. Two players who im sure will be senior starters in the near future. Derek Maguire done nothing the whole game. Declan Byrne needs to get in front-he was very lucky Dean Rock didnt have his shooting boots on. We missed three easy frees in normal time that should have wrapped it up for us although Dublin kicked more wides than any team i've ever seen.

I agree with sam57 the mental toughness was not there to see the game out. Typical of louth football but you cant point the finger of blame at anyone or accuse anyone of not giving there all. some serious talent in this under 21 team and all we have to show for it is another hard luck story !!

where do we go from here??? employ a phycologist

I would like to inform Sledger that in my younger days I played minor football with Louth. Did you ever play minor football with Louth Sledger and although I am living in Monaghan now I have never forgotten my roots and never will and it is people like me and Squidword that are a credit to Louth GAA.

Tactics IMO (or lack of) were crazy, started by tryin to walk the ball around the pitch although everyone knows that every Dublin minor and u21 team are physically strong and will crowd you out which happened plenty, that's basics. Also pumping hail mary balls into the smallest man on the pitch. James Craven tried very hard but seeing a player going head down charging up the field soloing is a sign of no management tactics. Wholesale changes were made around the pitch including 7 subs used, but our main problems were Dublins 5, 12 and replacement 14 yet ironically no changes were made in these positions over 80 minutes.

Our goalie couldn't kick the ball out, basics. The manager had no idea what to do with the spare man, definitely no planning went into that, basics. Kevin Rogers is a quality player yet he was left in corner before being substituted, on the forty he could have taken game to Dublin.

It was disappointing that we had a chance and couldn't take it, even if the Dubs were way off form.

Fatman stop embarrassing yourself, your county of birth and your adopted county. Your posts are a joke.

Dundalk34 how can you say the manager didn't use the spare man right when with 5 minutes we were winning by 3 points.couple of missed opertunities at the other end of the pitch and the game would have been won.a lot of heart to be taken from the preformance and best of luck to all the players in the future.hopefully in a couple of years we'll have a senoir team caplable of beating the dubs and winning a leinster title.

Hard Luck Louth. Think we were better team overall but 20+ wides & 14 men gave you opportunity. You should have closed the game out in normal time. Impressed with quality of your team. No 5 & 6 are great footballers and serious height & mobility in mid-field.

The reason louth were beat IMO is that one of their best players left the panal n the week leading up to the dublin match.
This player is a top class finisher and should have been on instead of some of the subs that were used.

I also feel that he would not have missed the goal chance that could have wrapped the game up for louth, late in the match.

So in essence the game was lost before we ever set foot on the field.

Well said Joseff but I heard from a reliable source that Fatman was banned from posting on this site and this is true because Squid told me.
