Ballygalget are finished, no dis respect, they have a lot of heart and try hard but the quality is not there, hope they can stay up because it would be a disaster for down hurling as the other two clubs are flying in the league............... hope yous can stay up

dickdan,
you must have been at a different match to me on saturday, if anything the younger Ballygalget players coped better than their Portaferry compatriots. Yes they lacked a bit of quality in the forwards, but it wasn't the younger players, it was the more seasoned ones who never got a look in come championship time and there was a reason for that. That reason was all too apparent at 5.30pm on saturday.

Ports will have to wrap dule in cotton wool as its a one man show.

how did that selection you put up the other day go? at least one was taken off, if not 2, maybe three and a few of the superb tough tackling athletic Ports were no shows.

Bricktop, we had an agreement if portaferry won this match you would stop commenting on this forum............... i was correct, portaferry won, oneill was immense, magean, two opreys got injured, ballygalget will not win a championship for at least another 8 years................. P.s portaferry will walk the final, the ballycran forwards will not be able to cope with the ferocity of the partaferry men................. lets face it, ballygalget performance was a fluke

If portaferry don't win a championship soon, they'll be near the 8 year marker too.

Grammar lesson for Dan;

Quote/ "if portaferry do not win this match i will never post a comment again, will you do the same brick top" /Unquote.

Portaferry won as predicted by me, but not by the margin they should have, so I continue posting.

The hurling lesson will be dished out next saturday evening to all those Ports inside the wire, but I'd expect your management to learn from some horrendous mistakes Ballygalget couldn't avail of.

I never knew fear was considered an injury, but there you go.

Bricktop-The two opreys were feared?
unless you were at a different game one came off with a head injury and the other simply had a bad day at the office. how this translates to fear only you will know!
Sometimes you amuse us folk with the lack of hurling knowledge u seem to have!

Surely to god with all that posse along the line there was a doctor in the middle of them to put 'stiches'[sic] in and get him back in the game, so much for this hardness in the ports camp.

Tell him the nurse in the clinic at the top of the town will take them out on Friday afternoon. She might even rub his wee sore head

Was there a punch up at the match on Saturday?

No, but Anton Ferdinand wouldn't shake hands with John Terry or Ashley Cole.

Disgraceful behaviour.

No, I don't think they played above themselves, they had a gameplan and it kind of worked, and I'm sure that they'll be kicking themselves that they didn't take the goal chances that presented themselves. I personally would have swapped young McManus with James Smyth as Smyth struggled a bit in the positional sense, but I don't think he's played an awful lot of hurling there. As the game transpired I thought they really should have won it. If Stevie Clarke had of been left half forward they most certainly would have won.

I've watched Ballygalget a few times this year and all their key players were either injured, emigrated or playing, I really can't think of anyone else that would have made any difference to them who may have been fit and not playing, but Long John might know better.

As for the Ports, like most years they're not as good as they think, re: my post on the difference between average, great and good hurlers. I was actually shocked to see some of their starting 15, some who would be very average junior hurlers, but i really can't see the Ports management doing the same in the final.

The winning of the final will be down to how we handle Dule and to a lesser extent Andy Savage. If Michael Ennis gets the better of Cougie which I expect him to then our other forwards will have more of the ball and get scores accordingly. I think we've the players to get a goal or two to see us lift Jeremiah again.

I find it funny that the ports are coming on here and trying to run the galgets down. I may be wrong but, i thought they won at the weekend!! Anyway, my theory is that the ports have been found out, and that has burst their bubble. They are able to talk a good game, but up against a under strength galget team, they struggled for long periods.
To say the galgets over performed is an insult, and it shows that the ports are trying to gloss over their failings, which may again be shown in the final against the crans, who will have a lot more firepower than the galgets, who played with 5 different forwards from last years championship, and a whole new half forward line from earlier on in the year.
What the galgets had available on sat, was what they had fit. We could talk here about other players standing in the stand or sitting at home, who could have improved our chances.
As history tells us, there is never much between the 3 teams in the ards and I've no doubt with spike bailie, caolan bailie, stevie clarke and a fully fit danny T, that the galgets will be back for a big push for championship next year.
On a final note, best of luck to both teams in the final. I'm glad for all involved that the final is staying in the ards, as it always should.

I see there's a rematch this Sunday in the Antrim league. Ports will want to avoid injuries or suspensions with the final the following Saturday!

Can Galgets still avoid relegation if they win there matches and Johnnies lose?

If the galgets win their two matches the jonnys lose theirs, then the galgets stay up.

Will that game go ahead this weekend?

We're down for the Johnnies and TBH its not really that critical that we win it as even if we lose and Ballygalget do pick up 4 points its hard to see their winning margin being in the 30 points region.

I've also heard they may get a reprieve as there could be changes afoot in the set up of the Antrim leagues, but I'd bet my money that any changes will be because Rossa fail to get promoted if Glenariffe beat them this weekend!
