tir_eoghain_abu...where did Declan McCrossan go I thought he was one of the best young players Tyrone produced around that era. I remember him playin senior for a while and I think he dropped himself off the squad one year but I never heard of him again. Does he still play club football, there was a brilliant midfielder who played for your minors about 5 yrs ago when they won the all-ireland, his name escapes me, havent seen much of him at senior level yet?

Yeah he played up to 2003 and was on the bench in the All Ireland Final that year. He was a player I would liked to have saw more of in a Tyrone jersey. I think he still plays for his club. Was it the 2004 minor team that won the All Ireland?

Antrim's Anto Finnegan. Mickey Linden ran him ragged in a champuionship game in Newry in 99 I think, but he stuck to it. Just kept coming back for more, would not admit he was beat!

I think he was full forward for his club & corner back for the Saffrons.

Not sure if any of ye remember a small corner forward playing for Kerry in the 90's...Genie Farrell was his name...class bit of stuff. Unfortunately injuries curtailed his career just when Kerry started to come good again. Still turning it on for his club at 37 years of age.

I think our Midfielders on that minor All Ireland winning team where, Shane O'Hagan (Clonoe) & Marc Cunningham (Captain)(Killeeshill)
But the brilliant player you're on about, who was the star of the 2004 panel was Ramond Mulgrew (Cookstown)
He's just helped his club Cookstown win the All Ireland Intermediate Title, a player with sublime skills (his goal against ? Got Voted Goal of the Championship in 2007) Only thing Ramie has going against him is his physique and upper body strength, he looks lightweight and mabye at times not up to the (as Noel McGinn tends to say) "Physicallity" of Senior intercounty football. If he can sort this out in the Gym, he will go on to be a Legend in Tyrone GAA. Hopefully so as he really has outstanding skills that could benefit our team for years to come..............

Galway bhoy did that fella 'John Concannon' play for St Jarlaths tuam in the hogan final of 1993. If so he was unreal!! I remember we had a fantastic St Pats Maghera team that walked the mac rory including SM Lockhart and co. However Tuam hammered us in the hogan final in longford. I remember someone saying later that tuam team included joyce, savage and donnellan (what a forward line). But def the star of the team was sum fella who never went on to play for galway.

Declan mc crossan was a class act for tyrone, also rated that lad marc cunningham too, however peter donnelly wudnt be my kinda player, his sheer power was what made him at underage level. I'd luv to see raymie mulgrew make it (class act) and i'm a derry man!!! Still hav my doubts about kyle coney aswell, lacks pace at this level IMO.

Yes John Concannon played in that Hogan Cup final against Maghera alright. Galwaybhoy is not exaggerating when he says that he was better than Joyce and Donnellan at that time. That was a star-studded Jarlaths team who hammered pretty much every team they played that year.

Kerry comfortably beat a very good Galway team that year and yet most of them disappeared off the radar after that, while 8 or 9 of that Galway team went on to win senior All-Irelands. Just shows that you never know which way it will go with minors. Even though a good few of that Galway team went on to senior success (Joyce,Donnellan,Savage,Meehan etc) the star of the team (Concannon that I mentioned above) never played senior for the county.

Tomas O Leary son of Seanie looked a great prospect for Cork hurling before he was lured to the Rugby scene.

Thats the boy alright, class act conconnan was. I believe Galway beat a Jason Sherlock led Dublin team in that years semi final and J C was the main man. I also think that he was on the senior panel the following year but never played.

A theory i have myself is that i believe its better for a minor team to lose in a All Ireland semi or final as it leaves them hungrier do develop in the future and stop's them from getting big headed. E.g Laois's underage succsess as well as the Galway minor hurling teams. 1994 is a good example in my opinion. Would we won the all Ireland in 98 and 2001 if we won a minor in 1994???? Proof is with Kerry, You never see them winning to many all Ireland's at minor level.

From the 1995 Galway minor team, Brian Moran also looked liked a player with great potential.

Yeah Galwaybhoy i think your spot on about a team losing an All Ireland minor final. In derry we lost the 95 final (Westmeath) but had a load of fellas that came through. In 02 when we won it (Meath) we only have 3 starters in the current senior squad. From the losing 07 panel (Galway) i think we are going to have 5/6 starters within the next year or so. Have many of that 07 Galway team came through?? Conroy hasnt really made the impact i expected him to which is surprising!! Although it was great to see i think the Armagh minor team of this year was a bit over-hyped, rem they only beat tyrone in the last minute of the ulster champ first round. Also if mickey harte thinks the 08 tyrone minor team can replicate the o'neill, mc guigan, mc anallen minor team of 98 then he really has lost his marbles. Peter harte IMO is the only stand out player from that crop!

A kerry minor dan doona from o3 or 04, went to new york , he was unbelievable , wicklow wanted him a couple of years ago , but he comes and goes to the the states, a massive loss to kerry, he was better than tommy walsh.

Still waiting on Paddy Curran from the Kerry minor team of 06 to make the break through. He was a cracking minor and looked very good in New York the following summer.

From the 07 team only two started the last league game. a few more in the panel and i hope they come true but we will see in the long run. One lad Danny Cummins came on as a sub and looks very promising and he was not even part of the 07 panel when elegible.
