I will never forget that day, in fairness he was provoked that day by the corner back (Burke I think his name was), but he got himself in trouble in other games too, I remember him being sent off in a challange game also, and numerous times for Naas...

Cillian Sheridan.

Massive miss for us. Could have been a super midfielder!

Leslie McGettigan could have been one of the best players Donegal produced but due to emigration became a great player in New York instead. Was on Donegal Senior panel at 17 and was still knocking about it when he was in New York despite not training with Donegal.

Too right - Big Guy was some footballer and a tough cookie. He was still playing the summer I was out there on the J1. We had a good few post-match celebrations in Fagans that summer!

No, think he played a game in the League or McKenna at the start of the year and then decided to commit to life in New York. One of the most unfortunate players in that regard but John Cunningham, Tommy Ryan and Martin Shovlin were in the same boat.

I know this is usually the opposite but wasn't Cillian Sheridan a GAA keeper??

Niall Ronan, was an absolutely brilliant footballer, unfortunately professional rugby came calling. Could really use him for midfield now!!

Niall Breslin formerly of Leinster rugby and currently of mediocre Mullingar rockers 'The Blizzards' could have been the next Rory O'Connell.

I think he has a Leinster u-21 medal from 2000?

Does anyone know whether he was likely to make it as a professional rugby player? cos if he was, that is a depressing career move. He could have done the mediocre rocking when his rugby career was over.

Shane Hogan was a serious footballer for Galway minors for 2 years.

If Nicky Joyce never came back after his absence he would definetly be in this category but luckily for us he did come back when Peter Ford left.

Bingo O' Driscoll from Kerry, He was part of the U21 All Ireland winning team that beat Canavan and Co in 1990. Maurice Fitz was also playing that day. I think he did play a number of times for New York in the championship but well worth a mention.

the Donegal posters fail to mention Declan Boyle.. fantastic half back who choose the pro soccer route.. Great minor who definetely would have made it at senior level.. Big Big loss to Donegal
