I will never forget that day, in fairness he was provoked that day by the corner back (Burke I think his name was), but he got himself in trouble in other games too, I remember him being sent off in a challange game also, and numerous times for Naas... Leslie McGettigan could have been one of the best players Donegal produced but due to emigration became a great player in New York instead. Was on Donegal Senior panel at 17 and was still knocking about it when he was in New York despite not training with Donegal. donegal_insider (Donegal) - Posts: 584 - 19/02/2010 12:01:51 566604 Link 0 |

No, think he played a game in the League or McKenna at the start of the year and then decided to commit to life in New York. One of the most unfortunate players in that regard but John Cunningham, Tommy Ryan and Martin Shovlin were in the same boat. donegal_insider (Donegal) - Posts: 584 - 19/02/2010 13:25:10 566781 Link 0 |

Niall Ronan, was an absolutely brilliant footballer, unfortunately professional rugby came calling. Could really use him for midfield now!! Bermuda_Bomber (Meath) - Posts: 101 - 19/02/2010 14:33:31 566998 Link 0 |

Niall Breslin formerly of Leinster rugby and currently of mediocre Mullingar rockers 'The Blizzards' could have been the next Rory O'Connell. JuanVeron (Westmeath) - Posts: 1866 - 19/02/2010 15:42:25 567141 Link 0 |

Bingo O' Driscoll from Kerry, He was part of the U21 All Ireland winning team that beat Canavan and Co in 1990. Maurice Fitz was also playing that day. I think he did play a number of times for New York in the championship but well worth a mention. mugsys_barber (Tyrone) - Posts: 2160 - 19/02/2010 19:33:13 567510 Link 0 |

the Donegal posters fail to mention Declan Boyle.. fantastic half back who choose the pro soccer route.. Great minor who definetely would have made it at senior level.. Big Big loss to Donegal richiej (UK) - Posts: 1430 - 19/02/2010 21:15:21 567600 Link 0 |
