Forgotten Players

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I am sure every county has had players who could of been superstars but were lost to the county due to some reason or other. Emigration, injury, lack of interest, personal issues etc.... . Players you say " Only if ...".
I think from my own personal opinion that John Concannon from Miltown was a massive loss to Galway and to the GAA in general. A player who was better and i am not going over board when i say was better then Padraig Joyce and Michael Donnellon when a minor and playing with a St Jarlaths Hogan cup winning team.
A wonderfull talent who could of superstar.

Niall Buckley and Johnny MacDonald. Always thought losing Johnny MacDonald cost us an All Ireland or two, he could have been the forward we needed to go that little bit further.

Billy O Shea of Kerry was a great player? Never heard of him much playing for Kerry. Michael Walsh of Down, a brilliant half forward, not in the Down squad, should be on it easily, one of the best players in Ireland, indeed on the 99 minor winning team he was one of the best with Benny Coulter.

Yeah, Johnny McDonald was a great forward, temper was a bit suspect but a very exciting player

You are right about the temper. Will we ever forget the time both himself and Mrtin Lynch were sent of in the first 10 mins against Laois and we went on to beat them. Best Kildare performance ever.
