Paul Galvin and the notebook

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

what the hell has the mans occupation got to do with it. he made a mistake he will get 3 months and still be back to lift samuel, move on please. nice one cavan slasher 30 000 is a bit optimistic though.
ps why do refs need notebooks in this day and edge i would have thought a blackberry sponsored by dunshaughlin agrispares would have been more appropriate. also in stead of a black tick we could use some form of tagging as say asbo offenders in england or cows in derry.

Worse things have happened than this and nobody died. What about in 97 when 30,000 Cavan fans invaded the pitch in Croker before the match. The referee had forgotton to pick up the coin (I still have it).

Paul Galvin knows more than anyone that he did wrong and has apologised. I hope their not too hard on him. It is an amateur sport.
Lighten up everyone.
P.S. Cavan people can laugh at themselves too.

should the meath and dublin boys have got off because nobody died. should kevin reilly have got off because nobody died. as ard ri said earlier graham geraghty got 48 weeks for doing the same thing in a club match. if galvin gets 12, then he is a very lucky man. if it were up to me, he wouldn't be setting foot on a football pitch for another year at the very least. the meath county board i think gave geraghty that suspension but if there is to be any sort of consistency the gaa should be giving galvin the same punishment.

Wht is Paul Galvins favourite movie? The Notebook!!!ha ha!! Sorry, just couldnt resist!!!
In all honesty he should get a suspension of some sorts as a referee has a difficult enough job in the first place without having to deal with the likes of Galvins childish antics. He has been in trouble before and i thought Pat O'Sheas defence on him on the Sunday Game were merely glossing over what happened. Referees have to be respected no matter what happens. End of story.

Did u see RTE's shameless efforts to get poor Saint Paul pardoned on Six One last night
disgraceful!!
We have the Parnell "Brawl" all over the news. But Paul Galvin is given a public sympathy hearing by Kieran Mullooly about him being the first south kerry or north kerry or whatever captain in years bla bla bla
SO WHAT
Disgraceful.
Throw the book at him, the refs book!

Lads Paul Galvin did not assault the referee. He assaulted a notebook! Now there is no cover up but he should turn over a new leaf.Paddy Russell also must in future keep a firm grip in things.

They are completely different incidents though Liam. The galvin incident is relatively minor and i think a warning not to do it again would be sufficient on this occasion. I mean he didnt exactly assault anyone. The only thing that might have been assaulted was the notebook. The dublin brawl on the other hand was very unsightly and it was a disgrace really for the dubs to start acting the hard man like that, especially in front of small children

Paul galvin got 6 months - Just heard on the news. Personally, I'd rather see a Championship with Paul Galvin in it.

Let it be an example to everyone involved.

Everybody happy now? Paul Galvin gets 6 months. Is'nt he lucky that he only hit the black book.

I cant believe it!
Justice and Democracy within days of each other!
Could Ireland finally be getting its values back?!

Wishful thinking Snuffy!
.....There will be another referendum forced upon us!......Then Galvin will appeal and his punishment reduced to 6 days instead!

Think 6 is harsh but there was a large volume of posts here and the incident wasn't novel to PG.

ps On his occupation (though irrlelevant!) pity he wasn't a librarian cos he could've said he was checking the return date!

in my opinion he is lucky with six months. graham geraghty got twice that for doing something similiar in a club match.

of course, it is not the first time, we have seen different rules apply for meath.

I wouldnt get too carried away about this suspension. We all know there isnt a hope he will serve six months. Not a hope. After he appeals it 2 or 3 times it will be reduced, prob to 8 weeks or something

The way Galvin stamped his feet in front of the ref like a bold girl!
Somebody should have given him a pair of pink wellies for to do that!

One month for the notebook and 5 for the girlie rant!

Cry-baa!

Loyal - you have a persecution complex lad - a real persecution complex!

I sympathise with Galvin while I admit if he got less than 3 I'd have been surprised - and disappointed. But I think 6 is over the top. He embarrassed himself more than anything and didn't actually lay a finger on ref or linesman. Terrible abrupt end to a season for a guy that was supposed to collect Sam in September and deliver the 3 in a row. He must be gutted.

Ridiculous....6 months, he didnt even lay his hand on anyone. Your man from Monaghan got only 3 months for kicking and punching another player. And the Dublin boys got ridiculosly less bans for a lot worse offence. Its nearly time the GAA stood up and punished the dubs the way the rest of the country is being punished!! If Ciaran Whelan done that.....the GAA would probably issue a public apology to him for booking him in the 1st place!

Instead of the 6 months i think he should get a harsher punishment, maybe making him move and play for mayo.

What rubbish are you spouting now Mr Tiobraid. For a guy that earlier alleged that you play the game at a very high level you haven't a clue. I'd say the only game you play to any high level is hopscotch. Jeeze Tipp win a couple of matches and they're all out telling us whats wrong with the world! Hadn't heard from any of them for years.

6 months is harsh enough, all he did was slap the notebook, a 2 or 3 month ban would have been better. He will certainly apeal it.
