Would Tomás O Se not be captain...he was captain for the League was he not?

Galvin screwed up and I pretty sure he knows it. No use going round demonising the lad. He'll take his punishment and things will move on. Its defnitly not the worst thing ive seen on a GAA pitch like some seem to be suggesting. The problem lies in a lack of respect mostly for referees but as we saw with Dan Shanahan last week it can be directed towards managers/coaches and re the Dub fballers last year towards opposing teams. Its a malaise. not just in GAA but pretty much every where these days. The dubs seem to have learned some manners so far this year, hopefully others will follow suit.

What a daft thing to do. Childish acts by a player I couldnt wait to see in action this year, especially after reading the article in the Times Championship pullout last month about how hes 'misunderstood'. I agreed at the time, now I just thing hes a child with a bad temper. Very dissapointed.

Why are people talking about Paul Galvin's occupation? He did a stupid thing yesterday and should get at least two months. He is however a super footballer and an inspiration to many young GAA players throughout this country. People should not be mentioning how he is a teacher. It is disgraceful behaviour by some on this post by mentioning how he cannot be doing this and he is a teacher. And Niamh, you say nurses can get sacked for being drunk in public? Go to Coppers on any night and if what you said is correct then there would be alot of women out of jobs in the following days. Grow up everyone and leave his private life out of it.

Kerr'ys system of captaincy is given to the county champions to pick the captain. Thats why Galvin is captain and not Tomas O Se.

I have nothing against Paul Galvin or Kerry all I want is consistency and a level playing field for all. An incident occurred similiar to Galvin's in the Leinster U21 semi-final between Wicklow and Wexford in Aughrim, where Wicklow County Senior player John McGrath, having being booked pushed the referee. He got a 3 month ban. McGrath got no sympathy from anyone in Aughrim. The media didnt report it. McGrath appealed to the Leinster Council and the CCCC to have his ban lessened. His appeals were turned down. Paul Galvin has actually been in receipt of plenty of sympathy over this issue. The fact is he went beserk like McGrath did. The punishment must be consistent. I wonder will Galvin get and more importantly end up serving a 3 month ban like McGrath. Methinks not.....

What he did was wrong, but It does happen to the best of players, I can't condone what he did, but to call him a thug is a bit harsh.... I hope what he does for the benefit of all is

1. Apologise.
2. Accept his punishment.
3. End of story.

Let Paul & Kerry get on with the championship.

I can't agree with you Jake. As I pointed out previously Wicklow player John McGrath pushed the ref in the Leinster U21 Semi-Final v Wexford and got a 3 MONTH BAN. Almost instanteously he apologised but was red-carded. He looked sorry and foolish. He didnt go on to verbally the linesman or get into a scuffle with his own team-mate. He didnt get any sympathy and his appeals were turned down by the Leinster Council and CCCC. The Sunday Game's independent adjudicators (yeah right!!) didnt discuss his sending off and call him a 'nice lad really.'

If Galvin gets any less than McGrath we dont have a level playing field or any level of consistency in enforcing justice in the GAA. Any agree???

spudenator - Feale Rangers, the county champions, are a divisional team made up of non-senior clubs in north Kerry. Finuge are one of these clubs.

Niamh I hope you never go into coppers face jacks haha
What Paul Galvin does in his private time is his own business. Don't forget he is an amateur footballer!!!

Where O Where is Nicky Brennan now! Was very quick to comment on Dub/Meath in Parnell Park, went out of his way to sort out Cork's internal strike and bent the rules to let them back into the league and allowed Wexford's hurlers appeal to being relegated dismissed on a tecnnicality after bleeting at congress about players/managers/county boards trying to get players off on technicalities. C'mon Nicky lets hear your views on The Paul Galvin issue.
P.S. Graham Geraghty got 48 weeks some years ago in Meath for a similar issue in a club game in similar circumstances. He eventually had it reduced after serving about 7~8 months of the ban.

Graham Geraghty got a twelve months suspension for knocking the book from a referee'c hand during a club match. Joe Sheridan during an under 21 match did something similar and got a lengthy ban. No-one in Meath felt any sympathy for them for abusing officials, not even their most ardent admirers. Regardless of his frustration Paul Galvin should have behaved himself on Sunday. He had after all much to loose and he should have known that. In this year when he as captain would have been odds on to be the player to lift the Sam Maguire on the Hogan stand next September he went and lost his cool. In fairness this is not the first time he has show an unacceptable level of poor thinking. If the rules are administered fairly he will not even be togged out again before next Christmas and that's if he is dealt with very fairly. Personally I like this Kerry team particularly Colin Cooper (best footballer of his generation) and the O'Sheas. While Galvin is a top class footballer, my view is that he takes much more from this team than he gives and that's a pity.

There is some incredibly upset people on here!! Well ye can relax a bit, he'll definitely get what's coming to him, i.e. a 3 month ban. It's what he deserves. Not so sure about the character assassination though.

I got to watch the Incident on tellie last night, I thought it was more bizzare than anything else, he really did lose the head.
He has made a name for himself as someone who can't keep the cool. There was no attempt to harm the ref or the Linesman, but he did show a large amount of disrespect to both of them. There is no place on the field for this sort of behaviour, 2-3 months should be enough of a ban. Does he want to be remembered as the Captain of a 3 in a row team or as a headcase!!!!

Anh he's a school teacher.. I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of him at school!! I appeciate he is a great player and has appologised but if he gets a 3 month suspension he will have to accept it and hope they make it to the final without him

Worse things have happened than this and nobody died. What about in 97 when 30,000 Cavan fans invaded the pitch in Croker before the match. The referee had forgotton to pick up the coin (I still have it).

Paul Galvin knows more than anyone that he did wrong and has apologised. I hope their not too hard on him. It is an amateur sport.
Lighten up everyone.
P.S. Cavan people can laugh at themselves too.

A farce that a player like that got an all-star. Hopefullt he'll get 6 months for that horrifying lack of respect. I was right beside it in the o'sullivan stand when he did it, couldn't believe it.
