Most intelligent player

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Who do you people feel are the smartest players on the field i.e the ones that know how to create space for themselves and others or can open up a whole defence with one quick hand pass etc. or in the case of backs someone who can read when and where the ball is likely to break, for me the obvious choice by a country mile would be the gooch and Brian mc guigan when in form and for backs tomas o se and aidan o mahony very original selections i know.

Wrong forum Baron.

Colm Cooper is possibly the most intelligent of all time. One could use so many superlatives to describe him. Genius sometimes does not do him enough justice.

For a back, Meath's Cormac McGuinness is very intelligent. He has a great positional sense, always in the right place at the right time to break up attacks. Plus he can pass and tackle pretty well. I can't think of a better centre-back than McGuinness in the game right now.

In soccer I always thought Teddy Sheringham was a very intelligent player. He wasn't blessed with pace but had a great ability to find space and great awareness of players around him.

The gooch without a shadow of a doubt is one of the most intelligent footballers, Brian Dooher, Paul Galvin and Jason Sherlock.

Mentioning intelligent soccer players and not mentioning Zidane should be a hanging offence.

Reading Darius Vassell's blog, He seems to be a smart articulate thoughtful fella.

Certainly doesn't fit into the bling bling brainless footballer stereotype.
