Drugs

Long term drug use definately causes severe mental illness and physical fertility problems. I have smoked a joint in the past but it did nothing for me except make me sleep and I haven't taken anything else drugs wise. There is something rather more disturbing about watching a person tripping out or taking a turn due to drugs rather than watching somebody who is blocked. While yes many people drink alone alcohol is mainly a social thing while hard drugs are a sad lonely dose of urgent necessity. Drugs are a dirty, dangerous, murky business and should ALL be banned.

Didn't think this thread would last long or thought it would be heavily censored, fair play to the admins for allowing this debate. I've taken at least eight of monkey's list, maybe more, I don't recognise the medical names of some of them. Just goes to show the misinformation out there when people say marijuana is far more dangerous than alcohol and tobacco.

CavanSlasher, nobody here is advocating the abuse of drugs like heroin, but do you not think that it would be a good thing if control of the market in certain drugs was taken away from the gangs and under government control?

In other news, 32_4_1 had coke once, but his mammy doesn't usually let him have fizzy drinks because they make him hyper.

Iv smoked quite a bit of dope in my time. None at all these days. And wouldnt want to.

But lads on here condoning it I dont like. There is serious side effects of drugs and just because you yourself didnt experience them doesnt mean that they dont exist. I know a fella who had a bad turn after some dope on a Holiday, the lad is schitzophrenic and we never be the same again.

Yes drinking and smoking are as bad if not worse in many cases, its the same principal, if your addicted to drugs or alcohol, you will find the same problems, whether they be mental, family or career. As i say with the side affects on drugs, i drink, but it doesnt mean im an alcoholic and it doesnt affect me, but just because it doesnt affect me, doesnt mean it wont affect anybody.

For the lads condoning it, I admire your honesty, but if you have or ever had kids would you want them to go down the same road, as you think its ok and all that?

I agree with a lot of what people are saying here although I'd make one small point. A person charged up on coke is likely to do more damage than a person on the booze.

Nocky, yes i would agree but i can't see it happening. Do you know anywhere in the world where this happens ?

Toma007, Unless you are personally effected by it you would never understand the depth of pain it causes. I know one boy who has had three siblings who died through heroin o.d.'s and h.i.v. !!

Its very fine that people can come on here and say that they have taken all sorts of concoctions and come out the other side intact but spare a thought for the less lucky people whose lives have been wrecked and also their families !!

I despise and look down on people who take drugs, seen as we'r all being so honest. If that means that i dont like 90% of the people on here then so be it.I hear about when some people die due to their drug use,and then there is a witch-hunt in the media with people saying theyd love to get the person responsible for supplying the drugs, and i just dont get this. While anyone dying is obviously a sad thing, and very hard on the poor family involved, the person still "chose" to take the drugs.
And it has been prooved that starting off on some of the "harmless" drugs alot of the time leads on to taking other more serious stuff.

Do you despise and look down on people who drink and smoke tobacco? Many abusers of these drugs die as a direct result of them and particularly in the case of alcohol, are responsible for the deaths of many innocent people all over the world.

Anyone who does drugs, drinks or smokes knows that these actions may have consequences. If they choose to do this then they can't really blame anyone else for these consequences. I do feel deeply sorry for those that have an addiction to any drug, be that legal or illegal. I certainly don't think they should be despised, rather pitied that they have to do this in order to be content with life

modreration is the key. i like the buzz of hash and weed but hate smoking so make myself some hash brownies every few weeks, and have a very pleasant evening watching movies and generally chilling out. would do the posh, charlie whatever name you prefer twice a year. feel like **** for a day after and sneeeze for a week. its an informed choice, i know the risks. would never encourage anyone else to do it or take it with someone who has never done it. always with a few select mates

CheFinny, what difference is it that your missus is Polish, why do you bring her nationality into every single thread?

Lyoto, what do you think of people who drink their own urine?

Breffni39 thats a fair point and i knew it was one that someone was going to make.If smokers and drinkers abuse their bodies by taking too much of whichever it is,then yes,i absolutely do look down on them(add another 9% to the 90% i quoted on my above post)...And i would despise them if their actions ended up hurting or killing someone else in the process i.e. killing someone by drink-driving.
The next question you might ask me is do I drink or smoke,i dont smoke, and i would drink on average once every 2/3 months. And when i do drink,i never go over the top,I know the one thats one too many...
