CARPS
County: Carlow
Posts: 46

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows a good club side near the Hampstead area? Myself and my brother are moving there next week.

I have played senior county for Carlow and Wicklow and senior club in both counties and my brother has played for Carlow also. We also both play Senior Rugby.

Thanks.

Ha ha I wonder who that is. Good man Carps.

i thought it was a decent enough performance from london, they where a little wasteful at times and they could have taken the points from carlow. the pitch seemed to be a tough one to play on yesterday. i think come championship the team will be similar to wats playing, the management need to get a team which they think can beat roscommon playing regulary togther soon...i really do think london could get a good run in the championship this year, they are def improving in each game, if they can cut out the silly mistakes. up front they could do with a more potent scoring forward. after all the chat about eastwood it seems hes not turning out for london this year, i thought his cucullens club mate cott done well yesterday, has incredible pace and scored a good point!

london_fan, the reason Chris Eastwood hasn't turned out for London yet is that he is injured- broken hand! He will be out for another 3/4 weeks!

London fan, I admire your optimism. But that was an awful game of football at the weekend.. it severely lacked heart and desire and the sheer want to win by both London and Carlow but for a few players e.g. Beirne and Conneley who at least showed some heart. Carlow were simply rubbish but never really looked like loosing even when Phair brought them within a point. I never said to myself once during the match London could win this. Any decent senior team in London at championship stage of season would have beaten either of the teams on display Sunday.

Ormsby, O'Leary, Touy, Phair, Coneely, Egan, Moyles, Cott I doubt will make the starting 15.

Killian Phair may have the best hope of this group he is a convencing free taker. but lacks pace in his general play but for me should start.
Coneely brave on breaking balls and a very enthusiastic footballer but lacks composer fouls too much and a classy player would skin him alive.
Cott fastest player in div 4 could be a serious weapon if ma grath would spend a few min in training pointing out to him what he should be doing in certain situations. e.g. his point was the only tme he took on his man directely and kept the ball on his strong side. he should do this more often and if a score is not on pass it off and cut inside for the return. needs to put on at least a stone and learn how to fist pass.
Moyles tech quite good but--
Egan the corner flag had more positive movement ---.

Just to address one more point you made there London Fan and I do apologise I wish I could be more positive like yourself.
There has been no def improvement in games in the last game we where hammered by Leitrim. the only run London will have is chasing shadows against Rosscommon and again in the qualafiers and early bath this year for London but whats worse is the high chance of been humiliated.

I agree with you London Fan...i taught London played well and the signs were good....it would have been nice to win a few ould league games...but the Championship against Ross is whats important................London will NEVER be favs for a Championship match....but this year i beleive they have a chance.....only a chance...but with the right team playing and team being the most important word.........i know its hard for the management to juggle getting decent results with trying out new players..........and lets face it...there are new players every game....in my opinion Coneeley and Declan Egan wouldnt be in the starting line up...both good club players...but when stronger options are available....they should be put in ahead of those lads.....but thats just my opinion form watching most London games..........Eastwood would be a good addition to the forwards but is unlikely to start against Ross as he hasnt played a game for London this year and there is only one league game left and he cant make that with a broken hand......Hayden will be vital come Championship....a class forward

i agree with u irish rover, haden will be play a staring role for london come champiosnhip, how did eastwood break his hand? championship is in 7 weeks,if he can keep his fitness levels up (im sure he s quite fit as he returned to london having one an all ireland club) he will be in the panel but i do agree would need to have played national league to get up to that tempo again ,but quality player...time will tell!!
i wouldnt say that london where that bad, i think there is postives, take into consideration that the playing donditions where bad and i do understand that both teams had to endure the elements of nature!

ah so the bitter and disgruntled man who is balls of gaelic has returned! as i said before, sounds to me like someone who has been dropped from the panel and has made a balls of his gaelic career???!!!!! i was out there too, london played some good football in spite of the conditions, the first point of the second half was a class score from o'leary. personally i think it looks like they are heading in the right direction but i also think its too late in the day, they needed to be getting it together a bit earlier in the league, but as someone else said, its not easy when youre trying out players in each game

was just checking a few things there, 14 players v carlow who from what i know have been in london for a few years, and 12 v leitrim. interesting, so much for the just off the boat theory! granted there have been maybe three or four exceptions in the form of mcgee, hayden and smyth, but the rest of the panel seems to be have been around the town for a while, and those three lads mentioned are all proven inter county performers, surely london would be mad to ignore them?! anyway i suppose it just goes to show that there seems to be a fair bit of continuity from last year, but im open to correction!

And maybe we should all hold hands and sing ring-a-ring-a-rosy..
Lets BEREALISTIC. Its great to see London have such loyal supporters that said, players been patted on the back for the time and commitment in the effort to be senior inter county player is handed out too easy. This is London This is an excuse. In reality more than half the squad do not meet the min of requirements in both commitment and ability.. If there was a roll attendance even kept at London training you would be shocked at how it would read, and even more shocking is the amount of top players in the squad have missed league games. How players prepare for the season ahead and take care of themselves in the off season is also questionable.
This may be London Uk but this is still senior inter county football and for London to constantly go with what ever way the tide decides to take them is not good enough in my opinion as a London supporter..
The opportunity was there for the taking this year to do something special.. the whole campaign so far is a major disappointment and that dose make me bitter
and I have problem admitting that.. To have arrived at this stage of the season where we are supposed to be happy with a loss to a very poor Carlow team, considering what London could have done in the League up untill now is a disgrace!
If all these players have been around playing club football in London and attending London training and players that have progressed from the London junior team,
How does it take three selectors not to be able to see what we all could have told them that many of these players are just not good enough..
We need a manager to come along and get 24 players that play together week in week out through the league plus the rare few that come over from Ireland that have the quality and desire to play for London but not just allow them to waltz in to the starting team. Its just an Idea!

well "balls of gaelic " i think your cover is well and truly blown, i was right when i said about yourself and some others on here being disgruntled players who were dropped off the london panel. i met a couple of county players from my own club watching the match last night, drinking lucozade i might add, and the hoganstand came into the conversation. they know perfectly well who you are, a certain tara player from kerry maybe?! they read the messages on here too and they know from your comments who you are, and they are not too impressed cos they know exactly what has been going on! roll on the club championship, it sounds to me like there will be some players on a revenge mission! could be a few saucy games!

berealistic..that is pretty vendictive of you, you obviously have a personal problem with the person you are trying to imply who I am... To be more interested in trying to find out who people are rather than what they have to say is sad..hopefully someday when you get that knot out of your knickers you might be able to hold a mature and proper discussion.. but I'm afraid you made this one rather pointless..anyway I wish London luck the weekend but am afraid they will need it, I do not see the progress the manager is talking about.. I think the the manager is very lucky to be facing a very poor Rosscommon side at home but in my opinion Ross will take them and I am fearful for the worst in the qualifiers..for a team that was in my opinion capable of 6-8 points in the league, of beating Ross and having a right cut off Leitrim..The only person who can answer why London has underperformed, can not see it for himself, that he is incapable of managing a football team. if you do not like my comments get over it your obviously hurt easy and too soft for this sport...
