Minor hurling team

martin storey had five places left on his panel and management kept 30 players for trails and kept feeding them the story of beinga champion hurler only to dump 25 of them and while they were playing trials they were stopped from playing football and thats a fact class 1984 ,i spoke with one of the hurling selectors at the end of the day we are fighting a losing battle gaa pulling players in two directions, turning players to soccer and rugby ,be great if we had a dual county where players could be given the chance to win two minor medals in the one year instead they are winning nothing

football when trails were on,again this was never said also may i say no minor was ever told that they wer going 2 be made a champion hurler!

In fairness, I think it`s pretty obvious pressure was put on players last autum to choose 1 or the other.. The fact that there are no dual players this year speaks volumes.. I believe two players who were dropped from the hurling joined the football panel the following week.

class1984, you really should get the facts right. It was made very clear to the minor hurling panel that there would be NO dual players on the hurling squad. If you dont believe this, ask the players themselves ( like i did )

Anybody who does not believe that the minor hurling management didnt have an anti football agenda is completely deluded. Furthermore the more applaling part of the situation is that players on that hurling panel were allowed play county soccer and club rugby. It is wholly indicative of why we are not achieving anything in either code when such small mindedness exists. The board responsible for uderage need to grasp the nettle and demand co-operation between both sets of panels instead of the nonsense which has gone on for far too long. When you hear of Colm Bonnar calling up team managers last week asking how serious they were about football and not to play county players in their local championship is a fair indication of the divide that exists at all levels. Imagine Jason Ryan making such a call!!!

Won in extra time... I thought that they would win this handy..still a win is a win.. I`d be hoping that whatever about winning a Leinster or AI that we find an underage superstar forward in the next couple of years like Canning or McGrath...

anfeardubh are you an idiot? Its indicative of why we win nothing with lads playing soccer and rugby? This is the most ridiculus statement ever. What do you think is better having the lads playing during the winter keeping fit and getting a break from the hurling?? Was a certain Joe Canning not playing rugby in Galway 5 weeks ago? And what did he do in the league final last weekend?
It is indicitive of the state of the people running hurling and football in the county that all they want to do is put other sports down and only see theres succeed.
You just digust me.
