Lancashire Season 2010

don't think Oisins getting knocked out is that big of a suprise, Lawrences always get there act together come championship time and Oisins are not as strong as they have been in previous years.

Semi Finals

Mitchells v Brendans in Liverpool

Peters v Lawrences at Hough End

Junior Championship final tomorrow at Old Bedians, I expect Mitchells to beat Oisins by a comfortable margin.

Eoin Morgan, full forward for John Mitchells recorded a stand of 219 in the 1st innings and there after was no comeback for Oisins in their 2 innings . In layman's terms, another cricket score!

ne thoughts for the senior championship semi's? dont think anyone can say that the 4 best teams in lancashire aren't present, peters and mitchells are the two front runners, with brendans behind them, lawrences are the best out of a bad bunch , anns and oisins being the two worst teams in the county at the minute. heard rumours that they might be joining forces for next year, they would have a decent side if they did but i'd doubt if they would all get on due to both teams obvious disciplinary problems.

what province do the lancashire champions play against in the all ireland junior club series? dont think it will matter anyway, the standard in general has dropped this year, with mitchells going backwards and the others catching up a bit.

I dont think the standard has dropped, Peters look as strong as ive seen in a long time, and mitchells know how to get it together at the right time, they gave brendans a hammerring last week. cant look beyond a Mitchells v Peters final.

And it wont be any where near as one sided as last years, not with the fresh faces and improved attitude at Peters.

semi final wins for mitchells and petrers, with plenty to spare.

Although Peters are looking strong and have beaten Mitchels twice this year I think Mitchels are still the team to beat and no doubt will be out to prove the point of still being the best team in the county. I doubt Mitchels will have any poor performances at this stage of the year, but if so and the other teams could take advantage then you never know.

Also Peters forward that played in the lanc v kerry game looked in good form, will be a player to watch and for Mitchels to keep quiet if they did both make the final.

Mitchells to win it easily, easily beat Brendans last week and no peters will be no match for them either.

Lancashire didn't have any forward who caused Kerry any problems either

A few teams have improved such as Brendans and Peters, due to their excellent recruitment, and have young hungry players...
Mitchels though still the team to beat (and I know Peters have already beat them), they do seem to have eased a bit and are well beatable this year.
Oisisns have gone well backwards from last year, last years prob 2nd best team (maybe joint with Peters) now havent even champioship semi's.
Lawrences have slightly improved wi a few new faces.
St Anns get a bit better each year with their young players getting older.

So id say Its roughly the same standard, with Peter and Brendans esp improving and Oisins majorly dissapointing (id say they hardle field again), and altough people have said Mitchels standards have dropped, theyve still won the only two competitions available to them so far this year, in Penine Div one and Junior Championship.
Beating Oisins in both..... who although im in agreement arent near where they were or should be still made both Finals......Strange??

Its down as Peters on lanc website. Being played at greenbank, should be a good game. But i reckon Mitchels juniors will be too strong for Peters... mitchels win by at least 8 points.

Big Tom

My last post wasn't allowed on this issue!!

We were given the game as St Peters couldn't field, Peters thought they weren't given enough notice so were going to the CCC so we decided to grant them a replay as not to drag it out.

Great result for Peters last night...shows you what I know.

Any victory in a final against Johm Mitchells should be celebrated greatly.

Mitchells will look to return the favour when they meet in this years Senior Championship Final, That or the hotly tipped Brendans Lawrences final.

Lancashire Junior League Final

St. Peter's 1-06 John Mitchels 0-06

Congratulations to the St. Peter's Junior Panel on a great win last night over a tough and resilient John Mitchels. Most observers commented on the commitment shown by both teams and a kick of the ball ultimately was the only difference in the end. Tight games like this will serve both teams well for the rest of the season.

The St. Peter's team selection and scoring statistics can be seen on the St. Peter's website http://stpetersgaa.intheteam.com

Next game for St. Peter's is an away Senior League Fixture against Oisin Clg. This fixture is scheduled for Saturday, 3rd September at 1.00pm at Old Bedians.

Heard Lawrences beat Brendans in the senior league last night, so much for Brendans getting there act together.

Wrong .. Brendan's comfortably beat Lawrences last night by over 10 points (maybe 15) result never in doubt.
It was a disgrace the game was played as it was pitch dark by half time and players had difficulty seeing other players let alone the ball, surprised that no-one was injured really - i was on the line and could make out play on the other side of the pitch !!

Stephen M from Dublin played alf forward for Brendans and took some brilliant scores.

Brendans were no were near full strength and will give a good show in the semi final of the championship.

The game ended in almost pitch black darkness down at the hough.

All the same it was for the most part a tough and competative game, despite the scoreline. surely that is the last of the mid week games for the season. think it wouldnt do any harm to look at revising the fixture list for next year, especially as there will be an extra team to contend with.
