Why is there confusion over fixtures this weekend? Is the championship now being put back until the original starting date (20th June) or what is the story? Bloody County Board is a farce!

The Championship games were re-scheduled for this coming weekend due to a possible clash with the Lancashire County team back door game on Sunday the 20th of June. The re-scheduled fixtures were opposed by at least one team from each fixture and so the original fixtures have been re-instated. The Championship games in question are yet to be fixed!

Suprised to hear Oisins couldn't field, they've got a lot of players.

Anyone at the Peters v Brendans game, thought Peters would win that one.

For me its no real suprise that the Peters v Brendans game ended in deadlock. There is nothing between these two teams at this stage of the season, very evenly matched.

In fact you could also lump Oisins in with them too, having already drew with Brendans this year and against Peters in last years championship.

Lawrences may be behind these 3 but maybe not as far behind as people think, having only lost out to Mitchels by a goal in the pennine league.

And then theres Annes who themselves pushed St Peters all the way in division 2 of the pennine league, and who love the role of the underdog.

In John Mitchels you have the undoubted favourates for every competition. Despite already loosing to St Peters and CuChulainns this season they are the team to beat. No-one knows what it takes to peak at the right time like Mitchels do. Expect them to go up through the gears as the championship plays out. They will be very difficult to stop.

So for me Mitchels will again be the team to beat in this years championship. But unlike the past few years when Oisins or Peters have been the only real challengers, this season will see all Lancashire clubs approach with reason for optimism.

Interesting few weeks ahead.

Redhanddefender- that's only half the story. Oisin couldn't field on saturday, JM couldn't field on Sunday due to an error by the fixtures committe.

This fixture was originally fixed for Sunday at 6.30. When we queried this some time ago, we were told it was an error on the time, and the game was to be on Sunday at 1pm. As a result of this lads had booked work and made plans for saturday, hence we couldn't field.

JM were under the impression that the day was wrong- and that it was to be on Saturday at 6.30. As a result their players had made plans for Sunday, and so couldn't field.

Neither team could come to an agreement on when it could be played so it's been postponed and to be rearranged by the fixtures committee

Junior Championship semi final

John Mitchell's V St Brendan (Thursday)

How do people see this one panning out?

I dont see much in that game. Brendans have looked very strong in the juniors recording massive wins over Peters, Annes, Lawrences and Ellen Vannin Gaels.
Mitchels have been similarly impressive in their games to date, and when the two sides met in the league there was only a point between them. Mitchels taking the win.

Who is in the other semi final, Oisins versus who?

In all honestly it shouldn't matter much who the winners of Thursdays game end up facing in the final. Whoever comes through between Brendans and Mitchels should be too strong for anything else in the county final.

ps- sparks, you might wanna put this fixture up on the Lancashire website as there is no sign of it.

............ Oh I forgot to put a prediction!!

I tip John Mitchels to win by 2points in a hard fought encounter. (although I wont be suprised if Brendans win it either)

Choi for now

Yer man was spot on with his prediction.

Terrible first half by Brendans and a very good half by a very strong Mitchell's junior side meant we were 11 points down at half time.

Travelling to Liverpool on a Thursday night is never going to be easy and may have played a part in a very poor first half performance. Anyway a much improved second half led to us getting within a point going into injury time but unfortunately we couldn't get the equaliser and Mitchell's went down the end and scored a point.

Anyway we've got no complaints and the better side won on the night.

In response to OisinsCLG.

The Wolfe Tone league game scheduled for last weekend was agreed by the Mitchels junior management to accomodate Oisins (as requested by an Oisin's official on the Thursday nigt at Turn Moss) and move the fixture to the Sunday. Never was there any possibility of Mitchels being unable to fulfil this fixture. The Oisin's official had informed the Mitchels junior management that lads (Oisin's) wouldn't be available on the Saturday night, and requested that the game could be moved to the Sunday afternoon (dependant on referee availability). The next day the same Oisin official rang Mitchels to confirm that the game was going ahead (as agreed face to face on the Thursday night) on Sunday afternoon - literally 5 minutes after the call a text was sent by Oisins informing Mitchels that the Oisins couldn't field. There was never any fear of Mitchels being unable to field either on the Saturday or the Sunday!
