Robbie Keane to Celtic

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

An Excellent loan signing for Celtic, This could be similar to the Bellamy loan signing a few years back. There's a big gap to close on the rangers but with these few deadline day signings a challenge on the title may be on the cards. Lets face it Celtic have been dire this season. This could be just what the doctor ordered. Mite even go over now for a game or two.

Just heard that Scott McDonald signed for Middlesbourough so I'd say Keane is definatley on his way to Celtic.

Looks like it's going to happen, did any of ye think Roy Keane would have signed for us? No so yah boooo. You fawning English Premiership brown nosers don't know the affection that many Irish players have for Celtic or the traditions of the club. A walk through Dublin any day is like a walk down a British high street with all them English football tops. Why don't you just join the Commonwealth and be done with it such is the love for Perfidious Albion in the South. Pathetic!

So that'd be leaving the number 7 jersey free too......

Liam, pomeroy plunkett, we celtic supporters are drawn to celtic beacuse of the links with Ireland, i dont need to give you a history lesson at this juncture. this is not sectarian as you make out. why do you feel the need to continually come on here and disrespect and abuse those of us who love the hoops?

Another great bit of business. What a transfer window it's been for Celtic. Keane looks a cert to sign at this stage, I nearly fell off my chair when I heard Sky Sports News reporting that he was on his way to Parkhead!

The deal for Ivan Ramis (Mallorca defender) looks 50/50 at this stage, fee's agreed, but he's yet to agree personal terms, he wants a specific sell-on clause in the deal (which is fair enough I suppose as long as it's a decent number). Really hope he signs as he's an excellent defender who along with Hooiveld would be a MASSIVE upgrade on McManus and Caldwell.

As for robbie keane surely he wouldnt take such a step down. it would be a disaster for his career. How can he expect to remain in the ireland squad if he is playing at such a low level

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Good one monkey. Tell me, in what league has Aiden McGeady been playing for the last few years when he's been in the Ireland team?

You are 100% right. What hope has any Irish player ever got of gettin on the ireland team playing for Celtic. Aidan McGeady will probably never make his irish debut now

Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane has agreed to join SPL giants Celtic on loan. The Republic of Ireland international emerged as a potential target for the Hoops on a frantic transfer deadline day.

With the experienced frontman currently out of favour at White Hart Lane, Tony Mowbray hoped to convince Spurs that the 29-year-old would be better served taking in a spell at Parkhead.

Harry Redknapp, reluctant to stands in Keane's way, has agreed to such a request and is happy to let the Irishman stay in Scotland until the end of the season.

Celtic have verbally agreed a deal with the player, who is currently on his way to Glasgow to undergo a medical and put the finishing touches to the switch.

It is understood that an agreement will be official announced by Celtic at 11pm.

mcgeady is merely a squad player for ireland and has been very poor when given a chance. keane is a first team player and captain who could play for a premiership team. A terrible step down for him

Is Celtic's signing of Irish players not a similar exercise to signing players for the far east as it will increase sales in merchandise?

A world of a difference.

Scotland is not part of Britain, they are not British. Many of their descendants live in the North of Ireland and we can identify with them, and they certainly are not British. They even have their own Ulster Scots language.

Many people wrongly think Rangers and Celtic are British teams, but they are Scottish. The same people think Sunderland and Swindon are English, but they are not, they are British.

Surprised you did not know that and you from Pomeroy.
